丽安·卡特曼是埃里克·卡特曼的母亲。她在整个系列中多有出场，被认为是南方公园里最突出的父母之一。

背景

丽安是一个性情温和的人，但也有一定的界限。她的声音通常是善良而柔和的（但在第四季到第七季，她的声音听起来更加甜美，由伊莱扎·施耐德配音），她的举动通常是为了帮助别人，尤其是为了她的儿子。正如斯坦和大厨在“撒旦之子达米安”中所提到的那样，她也是一位出色的烹饪能手。

双性身份

在“卡特曼的妈还是很荡”揭示了丽安其实是一个双性人，意味着她同时拥有男性和女性的性器官，同时在若干年前的谷仓舞会上，她与一系列的男男女女都发生了性关系。在揭示丽安其实是埃里克的父亲后，人们开始猜测埃里克的亲生母亲是谁？

外观

在外出时，她经常会披着一件褐色风衣，特别是在第十四季和第十五季中，通常纽扣紧闭并且外加一条腰带，不过有时她也会敞开风衣。在“人体iPad”中，她几乎整集都穿着风衣。

家庭

丽安的家庭在“卡特曼家的圣诞节”中首次完全展现。她带着男孩们去内布拉斯加州老家过圣诞节。她的亲戚大都与她的儿子埃里克相似——身材肥胖，并有着相似的口癖。在“卡特曼乐园”中，她的家族再一次全体出现在她母亲梅布尔·卡特曼的葬礼上，她的儿子埃里克随后获得了祖母的100万美元遗产，因为后者认为其他卡特曼家族成员会把钱花在嗑药吸毒上。

在“南方公园试播集”中，出现了丽安的丈夫和女儿。不过在正式剧集中这个设定并没有被采用。

关系

在交际方面，丽安似乎是莎伦·马什、希拉·布罗夫洛夫斯基、卡萝尔·麦考密克以及其他父母的朋友圈的一员。然而，在“三娘教子”一集中似乎暗示了丽安没有什么真正的朋友，而她对儿子的溺爱则是对此的心理补救。事实上她很少和其他家长单独待在一起，更多是在有孩子们的场合，可能说明大家与她交往并非基于友谊，而更倾向是基于孩子们的关系。
