- The Brown Noise is a reference to the White Noise, a Nazi method of driving the enemy insane with music during WWII.
- This episode displays Mr. Hat's capability of an independent existence.
- In the second showing of the commercial for the concert, it still says it will be held in Oklahoma, even though it was moved to Arkansas.
- Danny DeVito, in the South Park 5th Anniversary special, claimed that this was one of his favorite episodes.
- During the shots of the 4 million children, there are various repeat appearances throughout the crowd - for example, in shots of the stage from the crowd, at least fifteen versions of the Boy with Blue Cap can be seen, albeit with green brims on their hats instead of yellow.
- During the shot of the crowd from the stage, a "mirror" effect can be seen on the left side of the screen, resulting in several pairs of twins appearing along the edge of the shot.
- This is one of the few times that the boys' actions have a negative affect on a massive national and even global scale. Other examples appear in "Two Days Before the Day After Tomorrow", "Cancelled" and "South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut".
- Queefs are mentioned and focused on in a later episode, "Eat, Pray, Queef".

- One of the New Yorker kids are wearing a shirt that says Ekko, this is likely a parody of the Ecko clothing line.
- The boys, along with the New York children, stay at the Roman Holiday Inn. This is a reference to the 1953 romantic comedy Roman Holiday starring Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn.
- Cartman says that "they should bring back another season of Chicago Hope, though, seriously." Chicago Hope is an American medical drama television series that was in its final season when this episode aired.
- Mr. Garrison's line: "Second star to the right, and straight on 'til morning" is a reference to a line in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. The line was, in turn, a quote from Peter Pan
Goofs
- When Mr. Mackey says "Aren't those our boys?", Stan's hat can still be seen next to him.
- Kenny is seen dead after the massacre of crap, but later, he can still be seen alive on the bus.
- The second time it says Pox, it says the 4 Million Child Blow is live in Oklahoma City, despite the concert being moved to Arkansas.
- When The New York Kids say that mung a real word, and the boys say, "It is?", the children directly behind The New Yorker Kids turn around and join in saying, "Yeah"; one appears to be Token and the one next to him appears to be Bill or Fosse. They could just be laughing at the boy's stupidity, though.
Kenny's Death
- When everyone at the concert plays the "Brown Noise", Kenny is one of the many people who died from then releasing of his bowels. He appears again at the end of the episode on the bus.
