Wendy Marie Testaburger is a character in the animated series South Park. She has had four voices during the series' run: Mary Kay Bergman, Mona Marshall, Eliza J. Schneider and currently April Stewart.

Appearance
Wendy generally wears a pink beret, a light purple jacket with a dark blue collar, blue gloves, and yellow trousers. Under her jacket she has been shown to be wearing a light purple tank-top in "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society", and a white tank top with a Unicorn on it in "Breast Cancer Show Ever". Her hair is long and black with choppy uneven bangs. Some anime versions and character perspectives portray her as an olive-skinned brunette with brown eyes.

Personality
Wendy's eyes at the end of "Tom's Rhinoplasty"
Wendy is typically portrayed as nice, feminine, and liberal in nature. However, she is also shown to be very jealous, perhaps the most famous instance of this is her encounter with Ms. Ellen in "Tom's Rhinoplasty" (See below). In "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society", she calls Bebe a slut, and gossips about her with Rebecca, Millie, and Esther (see below). It is also shown in this episode that she is a prima donna, as she loves having the boys pay lots of attention to her and call her pretty, and she does not like for anyone else to get in the way of that. She is also shown to be extremely irrational at times, especially seen in You have 0 Friends.

She also has moments of carelessness, as in "Pinkeye". Prior to the beginning of the episode, she had promised Stan that she would dress as Raggedy Ann so that he could dress as Raggedy Andy and they could be a pair for Halloween. Later, she "just realized how stupid we would look" in her own words, and dressed as Chewbacca instead. When she was awarded with first prize (despite having the same costume as the majority of the school population), she gave the candy away to starving children, not thinking of how Stan or the others felt about it.
In "Follow That Egg!" it is shown that she has a strong motherly instinct, as, after hearing from Bebe about the way Stan had treated their egg, she was deeply worried that Stan would damage the egg which had belonged to Kyle and herself before Mrs. Garrison switched their partners. She even went over to Kyle's house, frantically asking to see the egg and hold it for a couple of minutes. Only Kyle could calm her down. After seeing how well Stan and Kyle took care of the egg, and presented it to the governor at the end of the episode, she saw how good Stan's fathering skills were, and relaxed.
Wendy and Stan
She is apparently prone to losing her temper when irritated by other people, as she beat Cartman up in "Breast Cancer Show Ever", after he had been persistently mocking her. She also says the boys are "so stupid!" when they can't figure out that they like Bebe Stevens only for her breasts.

Music
She became the 5th member of Cartman's boy band Fingerbang - after wowing the boys with a song, similar to the popular euphemistic Miss Susie rhyme.
Wendy also took part in the Thanksgiving musical play in Hellen Keller The Musical and opened the first musical number in Elementary School Musical, in which she also performed several duets with Bridan. On the Mr. Hankey's Christmas Classics album, Wendy performs a duet with Stan entitled It Happened in Sun Valley.

In "Tom's Rhinoplasty", it is revealed that Wendy is fluent in Arabic, as she speaks in this language to the agents she hired to shoot Ms. Ellen into the sun.
Politics
She is portrayed as a very political girl, and has started or joined many campaigns, groups, and debates over the course of the show. She has also participated in stopping conspiracies and assassinations.
In "Weight Gain 4000", Wendy is infuriated when Cartman's report wins the school contest, instead of her report on protecting bottle nosed dolphins, and she grows angrier when Cartman can't remember what he wrote about. She sneaks into the classroom after school to find his essay. upon reading it, she reveals to the public at Cartman's presentation with Kathie Lee Gifford that Cartman had copied Walden and replaced Henry David Thoreau's name with his own. Because Kathie Lee Gifford has already left at this point, nobody cares, and although this further annoys her, she gives up. In the meantime, Wendy and Stan try to stop Mr. Garrison and Mr. Hat from assassinating Ms. Gifford, although Mr. Hat ends up shooting at her and hitting Kenny McCormick by mistake.
In "Chef Goes Nanners", she is one of a few people who realize why Chef is upset about the South Park Flag, and immediately volunteers to represent the "Flag Should be Changed" team for the upcoming debate, but is mortified to find out that her leading partner is to be Cartman. She attempts to lead the team without him, and decides against his suggestion to sabotage Kyle and Stan's team (The Flag Should Stay the Way it is). They eventually begin to work together, and their partnership improve as they found that they had more and more things in common with each other - which also leads to Wendy's aforementioned crush on Cartman. At the presentation, this attraction makes it difficult for her to voice her side of the debate, but when she releases her tension by kissing him, she is able to concentrate, and produces a well-rounded opinion on changing history.
In "Breast Cancer Show Ever", Wendy gives a speech in her classroom, in order to raise awareness for breast cancer during the official Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October). Wendy hates Cartman, and considers him her 2nd worst enemy (the worst being Ms. Ellen but since she is now dead, she might now consider Cartman her worst enemy). Through the first 3 seasons and some of the 4th she has gotten into many conflicts with him and still does it, but has not shown any hatred for him since Breast Cancer Show Ever, when she brutalized Cartman.
Wendy is known to become the president of South Park Elementary School until "Dances with Smurfs".
Fighting
Wendy has shown herself to be a fairly decent fighter (although this is debatable as Cartman has been shown to lose the majority of fights he gets in), capable of beating up Cartman after he repeatedly jokes about Breast Cancer. Although Cartman in the fight does manage to get in a few hits in, it is Wendy who wins (she rams his face again and again into a steel pole) and leaves Cartman lying in a pool of his own blood.
Concept and creation
[1] Her name is said to be based on "Wendy Westaburger", the wife of a friend of Matt Stone's. Her name could possibly be a reference to the the chain of fast food restaurants, Wendy's, with her surname referring to hamburgers that are on the Wendy's Menu, although the source above could show this to merely be a coincidence.
Voice acting
From 1997 to 1999, Wendy Testaburger was voiced by Mary Kay Bergman. Bergman listed the character among her five favourite roles in South Park, (together with Liane Cartman, Shelley Marsh, Mrs. McCormick, and Sheila Broflovski); stating that she admired the character's overall sweetness and intelligence, balanced by her unpredictability.[2] After Bergman's death in 1999, the character was voiced by Eliza J. Schneider, Mona Marshall, and is currently voiced by April Stewart.

For the first seven seasons of the series, Wendy's most notable feature was being lead character Stan Marsh's girlfriend. Their relationship began in the pilot episode "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe", where it was also revealed that the two of them had been attracted for some time prior to the series, without saying anything. A recurring gag in the series involved Stan getting queasy from excitement whenever Wendy tried to kiss him (and in early episodes whenever she spoke to him), and then throwing up on her. (In an inaccurate flashback during Stan's dream in "City on the Edge of Forever (Flashbacks)", the two are seen at the end of "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe", successfully kissing.)

Despite Stan's continual vomiting, Wendy stayed with him, and got extremely jealous and angry when another woman "came between them" in one episode. In "Tom's Rhinoplasty", after Stan falls for Ms. Ellen, the substitute teacher's beauty, and ignores Wendy's attempts to win back his love, Wendy pays a group of Iraqis a large sum of money to capture Ms. Ellen and shoot her into the sun. Also, in the season six episode, "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society", Wendy openly insults Bebe after Stan (together with the other boys) grows attracted to her developing breasts, and later undergoes breast augmentation surgery to turn the attention back to herself, though the attempt fails because the boys realize what attracted them to Bebe before seeing Wendy's breasts.
Later on in the series, though they remained together till the seventh season, their relationship didn't seem as strong, and at times seemed strained (an example being the aforementioned "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society"). On Stan's part, though, it may have largely been because his adventures throughout the seasons left him too busy to pay attention to Wendy. She officially broke up with him in the season seven episode, "Raisins", although the only reason given was that she wanted to date Token.
Even after she had broken up with Stan, he still showed feelings for her, and tried to win her back by playing Peter Gabriel's "Shock the Monkey" on his boombox on her lawn, though the plan backfired when he saw that Token was in Wendy's room. In "Follow That Egg!", while working on the egg project, he tried to impress Wendy with his fathering abilities, and grew jealous of Kyle for working as the "father" of the same egg Wendy was the "mother" of. Wendy also showed feelings for Stan at the end of the episode, and appealed to him to take her back by complimenting his skills as a parent, but Stan turned indignant at that moment, and told her he didn't care what she thought.
When series creator Matt Stone was asked in an interview of Wendy and Stan would ever be brought back together, he responded that though the characters' love was written in the stars, the world "conspires to keep them apart". At the same time, he expressed faith in the possibility of their future reunion.[3] That reunion occurred in the season eleven episode "The List", when Wendy helps Stan to discover that the girls' election of who the cutest and the ugliest boys in South Park Elementary are was rigged. At the end of the episode, she admits to Stan that she enjoyed hanging out with him again, and they attempt to kiss, during which Stan throws up on her again, and she smiles.
[[File:Hands.jpg|thumb|right|Wendy and Stan holding hands in Super Fun Time It was verified in the season twelve episode "Super Fun Time", that as of the end scene of "The List", the two were a couple again, as in this episode, Stan pairs with Wendy on the field trip, telling the others that he is with his girlfriend, and fretting about the possibility of looking like a dork in front of her.
In "Elementary School Musical", Wendy gave Stan a small kiss at her locker before walking away; this is notable as it was the first time Stan did not vomit thereafter although Stan may have been anxious over whether Wendy would dump him for Bridon (this may have also been done because Parker and Stone got bored of the constant Stan-vomits-whenever-he-sees-an-attractive-girl gag.)
In "Butters' Bottom Bitch", when Butters attempted to recruit her into his "kissing company", Stan defended her heavily and lashed out against Butters. However, later in the playground, Wendy ranted about something to Stan, and may not have noticed the look on boredom of his face.
In "Dances With Smurfs", Stan heavily defends Wendy when she is being panned by Cartman. Wendy, however, seemed unfazed by Cartman, and rebuffed Stan when he let Wendy know his feelings.
In "You have 0 Friends", Wendy tells Stan to change his profile information on his newly-created Facebook page to "In a Relationship", as she was quite upset over it being listed as "Single". She told him to add her as a friend, too. Later in the episode, she jealously mistook Stan's grandmother's friend Susan, as a girl who was flirting with Stan by commenting that he looked cute in an unseen photo of a young Stan in a rabbit outfit. This could mean that Wendy has been taking her relationship with Stan rather seriously since the two made up. Despite any accusations of indifference on Stan's part, Wendy helped him break his "hoarding" habit in "Insheeption", saying that it would threaten their relationship.
It is possible that the characters Wendy and Stan are no longer virgins. At the end of "Proper Condom Use" the kids learn that "The right time to start having sex is seventeen." according to Chef. Stan replies "Well, I guess we got a while to wait before we have to worry about sex and diseases, huh, Wendy?" to which she replies "Yeah. Thank God." This suggests Wendy and Stan want to wait until at least seventeen to have sex. However, in an interview on series creator Trey Parker's official website, a question "Will Stan and Wendy ever kiss?", was brought up. Parker's response was that the characters had kissed a number of times throughout the series, and that at one point they had had sexual intercourse, but he added "You didn't see it". Matt Stone then added that in an uncertain episode, they could be seen together behind a tree, although he mentioned "If you're dumb enough to look, you deserve to lose that much of your life", implying that the sexual relationship concept was a joke.[4]
Gregory
In the movie: South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut, she had what seemed to be a crush on a newcomer named Gregory. She apparently liked him because he was very political, and shared many of her liberal opinions. However, when he started acting snobbishly and mildly competitive towards Stan, she saw how arrogant and proud he could be, and went back for Stan at the end of the film. She told Stan she had never really liked Gregory, and even said, "Fuck Gregory! Fuck him right in the ear!". Gregory hasn't been seen since.
Eric Cartman
Wendy is one of the stronger examples of an Eric Cartman hater, but in the season 4 episode, "Chef Goes Nanners", she had a temporary crush on him while they were working together on the flag debate. She even dreamed of herself and Cartman falling in love together in a meadow. Frightened by these feelings, she consulted Bebe for help on the matter, and Bebe told her that it was probably just sexual tension caused by working for so long beside him. Upon her advice, Wendy passionately kissed Cartman at the presentation the next day. After that, she lost all her feelings for him, except the old hatred. That same hatred reached a new level eight years later; in the episode "Breast Cancer Show Ever", she fought him, and beat him up.
Token
After Wendy broke up with Stan, she began dating Token Black. However, this relationship didn't seem to have lasted for very long, as Token was seen with other girls at Bebe's Stupid Spoiled Whore party in "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset", and Wendy was eager for Stan to take her back in "Follow That Egg!" The relationship between Token and Wendy did apparently last till at least the episode "The Jeffersons", as they were seen sitting together on the Ferris wheel in Michael Jefferson's amusement park in his backyard. Wendy went out with Token for the duration of the episode "Raisins". In addition, Stan flipped off Token at least once (saying "Right here buddy") indicating he rather disliked the idea of the two of them going out.
Bridon
Bridon Guermo is a third grader who Wendy and the other girls all have a crush on in Elementary School Musical. Wendy and him did a lot of the spontaneous musical numbers together, which made Stan jealous. However, Wendy assured him that she would never leave him for Bridon because he could be with any girl he wanted.
Others?
Episode 212 "Clubhouses" suggests that Wendy had boyfriends before Stan, but the number of boyfriends or who they may have been are unknown. In the episode, Stan tells Wendy that he doesn't have a clubhouse when Wendy suggests coming over to it to play Truth Or Dare. Wendy replies "You don't? I thought all guys had clubhouses." Stan replies "Just how many guys' clubhouses have you been in?"

Best-friendship with Bebe
Wendy's best friend is a blonde-haired girl named Bebe Stevens. Bebe helped Wendy to dispose of Miss Ellen, the substitute teacher, because Wendy thought that she was trying to take Stan away from her. (It aspires that Miss Ellen was actually a lesbian, though Wendy and the others didn't know what a lesbian was.) In return, Wendy helped Bebe to win Kyle over in "Clubhouses" (though it didn't work out.)
Though they seem to be very close friends, in the season 6 episode "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society", Wendy grew jealous of Bebe because she had won the hearts of all the boys (including Stan). Wendy was not the only one, though, as she was insulting Bebe behind her back with several other girls (but Bebe actually overheard a lot of it.) Finally, despite her mother's concerns, she got breast implants because of her jealousy towards Bebe's developing breasts. In another episode, "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset", it was Bebe who abandoned Wendy, because she wasn't enough of a Stupid Spoiled Whore. Despite all this, they have still hung out with each other as of the season eleven finale.
In "The List", Bebe and Wendy break into a fight after arguing over the forged list of the cutest and ugliest boys. Bebe even takes out a gun and tries to kill Wendy; it is unknown at this point what their status with each other is, though it might be implied that they had no longer been friends, as they weren't paired with each other in "Super Fun Time". (this may also be because she wanted to pair up with her boyfriend.) However in "Breast Cancer Show Ever", it shows that they are still best friends, as Bebe cheered Wendy on before and as she beat up Cartman.
Friendship with the other girls
The same way as Stan tends to act as the leader of the male student population, Wendy acts as the leader of the female population. The other girls look up to her as their voice of reason, though on some occasions, they ignore her logical and liberal statements and suggestions. The most notable exception however was during Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset in which Wendy failing to grasp the trend of being a whore, was outcast from the girls for being too smart. Furthermore, in "The List", it was Bebe who was the leader of the list making committee

- Wendy's name is a reference to the wife of an old childhood friend of Matt Stone's. She was named Wendy Westiberg. Her personality is based off of Trey Parker's ex-fiance, Liane Adamo.
- In the early seasons, Wendy has a high voice, similar to that of a younger girl, but in the later seasons, she has a voice similar to that of a mature teenager.
- She always wears her beret, even when she sleeps, except for a scene in Chef Goes Nanners.

- Weight Gain 4000 - Wendy is angry that Cartman won the paper contest and not her. Later, she and Stan try to stop Mr. Garrison and Mr. Hat from assassinating Kathie Lee Gifford.
- Pinkeye - Wendy wins the Halloween costume contest for her Chewbacca costume, despite the fact that nearly the entire school dressed as Chewbacca. She gets turned into a zombie after Stan wishes her dead, she is later restored after Kyle kills Kenny ending the zombie curse.
- Tom's Rhinoplasty - Wendy goes to drastic measures to win Stan back after he gets a crush on the substitute teacher, Ms. Ellen.
- Chef's Chocolate Salty Balls - Wendy keeps inviting Stan to take her to see the independent films at the local film festival.
- Clubhouses - Wendy tries to get Kyle to fall in love with Bebe, and has the boys build a clubhouse so they can play Truth or Dare.
- Chef Goes Nanners - Wendy and Cartman are stuck working together over the flag debate, and she freaks out when she begins to have a crush on him. She eventually kisses Cartman, and afterward dissolves all other romantic feelings toward him.
- Something You Can Do with Your Finger - Wendy teams up with the boys in their new boy band, and disguises herself as another boy.
- Helen Keller! The Musical - Wendy is Helen Keller's mother in the school play (Helen Keller is played by Timmy.
- During this period, Wendy took for the most part a backseat role to her female classmates, often appearing among or alongside them, with occasional individual roles.
- Proper Condom Use - Wendy, along with the other girls, becomes paranoid that the boys will try to have sex with them without condoms on, after Ms. Choksondik gives them sex education. She and the girls then build an advanced fortress to protect themselves from their male classmates and does battle against the boys.
- Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society - Wendy grows jealous of Bebe's breasts, and the male attention they bring her, so she ends up getting breast implants, despite her mother's concerns.
- Raisins - Wendy breaks up with Stan, and starts dating Token.
- Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset - Wendy avoids becoming a "whore", and tries to get the other girls not to be whores either.
- Wendy made a brief comeback during Season 9, before taking a year-long breather.
- Marjorine - Wendy and Bebe realize how hurt "Marjorine" feels after being teased by the other girls, and are the first to apologize to "her".
- Follow that Egg! - Wendy is teamed up with Kyle during their egg project, which drives Stan into jealousy. She is later teamed up with Bebe. She indicates feelings of regret for breaking up with Stan.
- Wendy made her triumphant return in the finale of the eleventh season after nearly two years as a background character.
- The List - Wendy helps Stan in his investigation regarding the girl's list of the cutest and ugliest boys in school. They reconcile their relationship.
- Super Fun Time - Wendy is Stan's partner and appears throughout the episode.
- Breast Cancer Show Ever - Wendy gets into trouble after threatening bodily harm on Cartman. But she still performs bodily harm on Cartman. Also tries to raise breast cancer awareness.

- The Coon - Wendy points out that Mysterion might not be a boy, causing Cartman to accuse her of being the town's hero.

- Dances with Smurfs - Cartman attacks Wendy with the morning announcement, since Wendy is the president of the school.
- You have 0 Friends - Wendy gets upset over Stan's relationship status being "Single" on his Facebook page, and tells him not only to change it to "In a Relationship", but to add her as a friend as well.
