The V-chip is a device that appears in South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut. It is a small chip that is surgically implanted under the patient's skin to administer an electrical shock whenever they use vulgar language by detecting physiological changes that occur in an individual whenever they swear. It can be described as a form of aversion therapy.

Background[]

After Sheila Broflovski caught Eric Cartman singing a derogatory song about her, the Mothers Against Canada organization would hire Doctor Vosknocker to implant a V-chip into Cartman's head to stop him from swearing. Every time Cartman said a profane word, it would electrically shock him, eventually dissuading him from using profanity. The organization was delighted by the results, and Sheila announced their intent to implant all of their children with the chip the next week.

During Terrance and Phillip's execution, Cartman managed to shut off the power to their electric chairs, this saving the duo, but he was subjected to a prolonged electric shock that damaged the chip. Cartman later took note of the resulting unusual behavior of the chip, and after Saddam Hussein and Satan emerged from Hell, he discovered he could now shock foes whenever he swore. He then used this power to assist in defeating the dictator.

South Park: The Stick of Truth[]

The V-Chip reappears as an ability called "Curse", used by Cartman where he says dozens of swear words at random times before shocking an opponent with electrical bolts. It is very powerful, doing lots of damage and it also uses the most PP of Cartman's moves.

Trivia[]
