Tweek vs. Craig is the fifth episode of Season Three, and the 36th overall episode of South Park. It originally aired on June 23, 1999.^[1]

Synopsis

Stan, Kyle and Cartman trick Tweek and Craig into believing that they have been challenged by each other to fight. Mr. Adler, the boys' shop class teacher, can't get over the death of his beloved fiancé.

Plot

The boys start their week in shop class with Mr. Adler. He asks the class who the biggest troublemaker is. Stan and Kyle say that Tweek is, but Cartman says that Craig is. They bet 5 bucks on a fight between Tweek and Craig. Cartman tells Craig that Tweek said he is a poopeater, Craig decides to fight Tweek and flips him off, in return Tweek agrees to fight Craig. The fight is set to be after school.

Kenny meanwhile, has attended home economics, making him the only boy to not attend shop class. He gets along with the girls pretty much well.

After school, the boys wait for Tweek and Craig to fight, and raise the bet to ten dollars. But Clyde tells them that Tweek and Craig have both gone home without fighting. Stan and Kyle go find Tweek, they lie to Tweek that Craig challenged him and insulted him badly by calling him a chicken. Cartman and Kenny call at Craig's house, telling him that Stripe, Craig's guinea pig, is said to be a sex toy by Tweek, making Craig all pissed off. Upon the agreement of both, the fight is rescheduled to the next day.

Mr. Adler has been going through extreme emotional stress because of the death of his fiancée. He keeps a photo of her with him, and he can't help looking at it frequently. Then he begins to see flashbacks of her and her death when flying a skywriter, in which her plane exploded and crashed into the ocean where she then drowned. His only comfort while remembering these tragic events lies in his nicotine gum, however this has very little effect as his emotional state gets worse and worse.

At dinner, Tweek and Craig both tell their parents about the upcoming fight. Tweek's father tries to comfort him with a story of himself, but the story goes nowhere. Craig's parents are just indifferent, causing everyone to flip off each other. Mr. Adler refuses to make love to Pearl, the home economics teacher, due to his mental problems.

The second day, the boys set up a pre-fight 'press conference' in the cafeteria. When answering Clyde's questions, Cartman and Kyle rip on each other as they normally do, but unexpectedly end up in a severe fight which gets Stan and Kenny involved. The other kids don't even notice the outbreak since they only care about the fight between Tweek and Craig.

After school, Tweek and Craig show up but are unsure how to fight. The fight is rescheduled yet again, while the boys train the two fighters. Stan and Kyle train Tweek how to box with the help of Jimbo and Ned. Tweek beats Ned after a few pointers. Cartman teaches Craig how to sumo wrestle, but unfortunately Craig loses to Cartman after he shoves his ass into Craig. The sumo master then asks Cartman to turn professional.

Mr. Adler has finally run out of nicotine gum. Now having completely lost the will to live, he decides to kill himself by laying on the saw belt, leaving his last words on the desk. Due to his unsatisfactory performance in the home economics class, Kenny is now required to be transferred to shop class. He enters the shop class to explain it to Mr. Adler, who is already on the saw belt. Mr. Adler briefly instructs Kenny to use the jigsaw, while still on his suicidal act.

The fight finally begins and the two remain equal. They then crash into Mr. Adler's classroom. It finally gets Mr. Adler interrupted, he tries to stop these kids from screwing around, but to no avail. The fight causes Kenny to be caught in a jigsaw, which flings him to death into a pile of sharp rusty nails.

Mr. Adler rushes to Kenny. Kenny's face forms into a vision of his dead fiancée who teaches him a lesson about life and death. She tells him that everyone has to move on. Saying goodbye doesn't mean anything as it is the happy times that really matter, not how a person left. These words from beyond the grave immediately make him feel better, able to live again. Mr. Adler also sees his dead Grandma and Uncle Corey. Stan notices Mr. Adler's weird behavior and gets confused.

Tweek and Craig are hospitalized and the kids go to see them. Stan, Kyle, and Cartman apologize to Tweek and Craig, admitting that one had never insulted or ever wanted to fight the other; that it was a lie they made up just to see who could win in a fight. Then a second later, the boys convince them to start fighting again right in the hospital using the same method as before.
