The Today Show is a real life early morning news program filmed in New York City. The show stars Matt Lauer, Meredith Vieira, Ann Curry, and Al Roker. All four appear in the episode, "The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs".
When Butters Stotch takes credit for supposedly writing the horrifically vulgar and disgusting book The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs, which was is actually written by the boys, Butters and his parents are asked to be on the Today show. During the interview. Butters is praised on the book, but are all four the stars are unable to keep themselves from vomiting whenever they attempt to read from the book due to how disgusting it is. Al Roker then asks whether or not Butters is afraid that the book will cause a murder attempt like the one done when a man attempted to kill Ronald Reagan after reading the book The Catcher in the Rye. Butters, who earlier was over-come with the desire to kill John Lennon, suddenly realizes that he was supposed to kill Reagan after reading the book and begins to set out to murder the former president. Fortunately he is quickly told by Roker that Reagan is already dead, much to Butter's disappointment.
The Today Show group appears again, when Butters completes a second book entitled, The Poop That Took a Pee. For the segment they get Morgan Freeman to read an excerpt from the book. The book however is not as remotely vulgar or well-written as the first one, instead coming off as childish, with the only thing close to a bad word being "Poop" and "Pee". However, People's reaction to the book is that while it's not as vulgar, they feel that Butters has gone to his roots, causing the book to be another success. Ironically however it inspires a man to kill the Kardashians, whom Butters himself loved, which the man referred to as "phonies", causing the public to turn against Butters.
