This page contains trivia for "The List". Remember, trivia must be factual, provable, and it is always best to cite your source for not-so-obvious trivia. If you would like to dispute a trivia point, please discuss it in the talk page.

Trivia[]

  • This is the first time the South Park Elementary Cafeteria has been seen since Chef's death. From this point onward, the cafeteria mostly serves as a way for the boys to learn of an episode's plot hook, typically from Butters or Cartman.
  • Despite being called by her current name in "Follow That Egg!", Red is referred to as "Rebecca" in this episode. Like "Erection Day" in which she was called "Bertha", this is the only episode where she is called "Rebecca".
  • Some of the other lists seen in the background or discussed are "Girls We Hate Most", "Hip Hop and Country", "Do's and Don'ts on a First Date (holding hands is alright, no kissing, never pay for dinner), "Which Girl Has the Cutest Purse?", "Best Dressed", and "Biggest Liars."
  • Clyde Donovan and Tolkien Black are one of the boys involved in Cartman's squad to contrive a plan to knick the list. They are however seen attending their daily routines when Cartman yells in his euphoric and triumphant way that they obtained the list. They might've given up believing the plan was dubious and trifle.
  • Contrary to popular belief, kicking or hitting a woman between the legs would hurt almost as much as hitting a man, due to the bones located around that area.
  • When Wendy and Stan begin their conclave, Wendy says: "This is a nice surprise, I thought you were never speaking to me again." Although at the very start of "The Snuke" it is seen that they were having a convenient dialogue with each other.
  • Butters runs in the manner of Al Gore when Stephen Stotch praises him for not being the ugliest kid in class.
  • It is unknown how Abraham Lincoln, in ghost form, manages to drive a car. It is possible that the scenes are just a part of Kyle's dream.
  • Kenny's death scene was foreshadowed in the episode when Cartman says that nobody would marry Kenny because they wouldn't want to "have Pop-Tarts for dinner every night." Moments after Kenny is killed at the McCormick dinner table, their toaster ejects a pair of Pop-Tarts.
  • Starting with this season, all the "South Park Complete Season DVDs" and episodes on the website are now uncensored.

References to Popular Culture[]

  • The scene where Stan and Wendy began to kiss is similar to where Batman and Catwoman heated their relationship from the Batman episode, Almost Got 'Im.
  • Kyle being visited by the ghost of Abraham Lincoln and shown the lives of the attractive people in town is very similar to the novel A Christmas Carol when Scrooge is being shown the lives of the townsfolk during Christmas by the Ghost of Christmas Present.
  • Seen in the girls list-making room are posters of Orlando Bloom, Joe Jonas, and Corbin Bleu from High School Musical.
  • In Wendy's room there are posters of Chris Brown and Cirque Du Soleil.
  • Kenny was shot in the back of his head, the same happened to Abraham Lincoln.

Continuity[]

  • This is the last episode that features Muhammad in the opening credits.
  • It was mentioned in "Mystery of the Urinal Deuce" that Clyde had a colostomy at age five, but in this episode when he examines himself, he appears normal. However, it is possible his colostomy was reversed.
  • This marks the first time in 8 years since Stan has vomited on Wendy, the last time he did it was in South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.
  • Stan and Wendy appear to get back together in this episode. They broke up in "Raisins".
  • Although their friendship is doomed in this episode, Wendy and Bebe become friends again in "Breast Cancer Show Ever".
  • The broken glass can be seen in "Major Boobage".
  • Bebe Stevens kills Kenny for a second time, although it was accidental. The first was in "Proper Condom Use".
  • Bebe dates Clyde in this episode. She previously entered a relationship with him in "Clubhouses".

Goofs[]

  • The boys learn that kicking girls in the crotch does not work because they do not have genitals. However, this is untrue. Whereas the male pelvis is made of bone, there is a significant amount of the female pelvis that is made of cartilage, making it easier to damage, even more so if caught between the legs rather than straight forward. This is also because of nerve endings, particularly in the area of the clitoris. Furthermore, there are other organs just a bit higher than the general pelvic area, such as the ovaries/uterus, that if impacted instead, can feel as much like getting punched in the stomach anyway.
  • As the boys are running down the hallway with the stolen list, Millie Larsen's mouth movements match that of Nelly when the latter is yelling "Give that back, you dirty buttholes!"
  • In a scene of Wendy, Lola, and Red talking, half of Lola's headband is missing.

Deleted Ending[]

The deleted ending for this episode.

  • This episode has an addition to the ending that was removed from the broadcast. After Stan vomits on Wendy, Kyle mentions that everyone will want to know who was really last on the list. Wendy reveals that "Well, I guess we'll never know... except that I looked and it was Cartman." Cartman is then shown sitting with the Ugly Kids. Butters now makes fun of him by saying "Hey ugly buggly, did Adolf Zitler launched a zitzkrieg across your face!?" Cartman says it does not bother him as long as he's a good person on the inside... he then realizes what he said and drops his head on the table. It might have been removed from broadcast due to lack of time.
