Trivia

  • This episode did not air in Latin America, but it was dubbed into Spanish.
  • This episode mainly focuses on the topic of illegal immigration, involving Mexicans trying to get over the United States Border.
    • However, the main plot of this episode involves Mexicans trying to get back into Mexico because they realize living in the US isn't so fulfilling for them.
  • The fat Border Patrol agent is reminiscent of Joe Arpaio, an Arizona sheriff vehemently against illegal immigration.
  • The name Mantequilla is actually Spanish for butter, or peanut butter, referencing Butters' usual nickname.
  • When Cartman is having a nightmare at the sleepover, a guitar hero controller and an Xbox 360 can be seen in the background. As well as this, you can also see Monopoly, potato chips, soda cans, and other various games - also seen is a box labelled "Mommy's Toys" and there is a blowup male doll to the left, another reference to Liane Cartman being a sexaholic.
  • Timmy Burch sleeps in his wheelchair at the party.
  • Two Clyde Frogs are also seen in the background of the party.
  • A stuffed animal Peter Panda is also seen in the party background.
  • After the game in the beginning, when the boys are eating pizza, Jimmy is drinking water in a cup instead of soda from a can. This is probably for fitness reasons as he is shown to be very conscious of fitness in " Up the Down Steroid".
  • When the boys leave Cartman's House to look for Butters, all of Cartman's Team are dressed for playing the game, while only Token is dressed for The Mexican Team.
  • This is the fourth time the country of Mexico was shown, the first time was in "Probably" and the last was "Free Willzyx".
  • Cartman's Antonio Banderas Blow-Up Doll from "Korn's Groovy Pirate Ghost Mystery" can be seen when the boys are sleeping in the basement.

References to Popular Culture

  • The title of this episode is a reference to the novel and movie "The Last of the Mohicans".
  • In the scene where Butters wakes up from his bed naked and opens the windows, only to see a crowd of cheering people, it is referencing The Life of Brian which the same situation happens. Trey Parker and Matt Stone are known to be big Monty Python fans.
  • Randy Marsh's scream of "NO!" when he sees the leaves the house is originally from Darth Vader at the end of the third Star Wars film and a reference to the Blu-ray enhancements to the sixth film to include the line. This is the second time Randy's voice has been dubbed for a "No!" line, the first being in "Something You Can Do with Your Finger" - on that occasion the sound was taken from Star Trek: First Contact.
  • The Mexican workers leaving the USA for Mexico and other parts of Latin America is a reference to the 2004 movie A Day Without A Mexican, a satirical comedy directed by Sergio Arau.
  • When Butters wakes up in Mexico, a picture of famous controversial artist Frida Kahlo can be seen on the wall behind him.
  • There are multiple references to the current economic recession in the United States.

Continuity

  • This is the first time DogPoo Petuski appears as a member of the boys' extended gang.
  • Cartman says "respect my authoritah" in Spanish, which marks the first time the phrase has been used since "Marjorine". This also marks the third time this season Cartman has re-used one of his catchphrases, which have all been absent for several seasons.
  • Butters is taken to a La Taco by the white couple who found him. Jennifer Lopez, whose career was ruined by Cartman and Mitch Connor, starts working at a La Taco at the end of "Fat Butt and Pancake Head". Whether or not this was the same La Taco is unknown, as she was never shown.
  • A toy truck can be seen behind Craig when Cartman wakes up the others. The truck is The Tonko Radio - Controlled Play Bulldozer Cartman received for saving South Park from The Hippies in "Die Hippie, Die".

  • Stan Marsh seems to be fully back to normal. He is cured of his cyniscism and has stopped drinking.
