Trivia

  • This is the first episode that aired after Chef voice actor Isaac Hayes died, who had left the show by this time (see "Trapped in the Closet"). This episode was dedicated to him.
  • This episode is named after the accents of how Chinese speak; a running gag throughout the series is that the Chinese pronounce the letter 'l' as 'r'.

References to Popular Culture

  • All of the scenes where George and Steve are raping Indy are references to different films with a rape scene:
    • Boys Don't Cry - Indy getting raped in front of Stan after Lucas and Spielberg tries to remove Indy's clothing references the main character Brandon being stripped of his clothing and revealed to be a woman while his girlfriend is forced to watch, followed by him being raped.
    • The Accused - Indy getting raped atop of the pinball machine inside a bar followed by a glass falling off the machine and the district attorney eventually deciding to take the boys' case after hearing their story of rape reference the beginning of the film as well as the deputy district attorney who takes the case.
    • Deliverance - Indy being told to strip by two armed mountain men and then being told to "Squeal like a pig" during his rape are direct references to the film.
  • During the second rape scene, Indy is playing a Howard the Duck pinball machine, while Stormy Weathers is at a Willow machine.
    • George Lucas was involved with both films, as he had written the story to Willow and was the executive producer on Howard The Duck.
  • Posters for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull can be seen at Bijou Cinema.
  • While Indy is being raped inside the bar, Arnold Ernst Toht and his henchmen, Ratty Nepalese and Giant Sherpa from Raiders of the Lost Ark briefly appear at the bar, as they enter and then quickly run out after seen Indy being raped.
  • The cops said that they found Spielberg and Lucas raping a stormtrooper, along with a dead Short-Round and Yoda. All three are movie characters from movies that George Lucas and Steven Spielberg directed:
  • In the creators' commentary for this episode, Matt Stone and Trey Parker mentioned how much they hated Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and compared watching the film to rape. Matt also mentions that he would not feel bad if George Lucas were to complain to him about his portrayal in the episode, because of how bad the film was.

Continuity

  • Both Spielberg and Lucas previously appeared in the sixth season episode "Free Hat", and were subsequently killed. Once again they are portrayed as villains who attempt to ruin movies, and once again it is part of the Indiana Jones franchise. In "Free Hat" they attempted to remake Raiders of the Lost Ark after having made a more politically correct and unpopular version of Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back as well as similar versions of E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial and Saving Private Ryan.
  • The restaurant P.F. Chang's also reappeared here, having previously been shown in the tenth season episode "A Million Little Fibers" as Towelie's workplace and in the eleventh season episode "More Crap", being where Randy would eat and train to grow his crap.
  • Cartman shows that he actually cares about some people when he yells at Butters about shooting guys in the dicks. This is also a running gag in this episode.
  • The threat of China taking over America was also mentioned in "I'm a Little Bit Country" when Gerald Broflovski says the pro-war people protect the country against terrorists or China.

Goofs

  • When the camera pans down as the officers arrive to arrest Spielberg and Lucas, 6 officers including a redhead can be seen by the door. When the camera move in closer, there are only 4 officers with the redhead missing. When the officers are inside all six come in together.
  • During Stormy Weathers' daydream of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas raping Indiana Jones, Spielberg is shown holding Indy down while Lucas rapes him. However, right before the daydream ends, Spielberg and Lucas swap places, with Lucas holding down Indy while Spielberg rapes him.
