Trivia[]

  • Cartman, Kyle and Kenny do not appear in this episode.
    • This is the first episode since “Handicar” in which Cartman does not appear.
  • This episode currently has the lowest amount of speaking characters, at eleven.
  • One of the people seen at Randy's party is a reused character model of the Ohio State PC Bro.

References to Popular Culture[]

  • Tolkien and Stan play Warhammer 40,000. Stan mentions the "psyker phase" at one point.
  • The scenes with Garrison insisting he does not want to rally any more, then being tempted by a rally with dance music, is a parody of older gay couples where one member wants to continue partying and attending clubs. The scene at the end where a supporter shows his foot under the restroom door and then taps it is a parody of cruising.[1][2]
  • The Maga Store seen in the episode is based on a real life business, the Keep on Trumpin Superstore located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which opened in March 2022 and sells flags, T-shirts, stickers, decals, clocks, teddy bears, bobbleheads and other assorted novelty merchandise. [3]
  • Mr. Garrison's plan to rally is a reference to former United States president Donald Trump who is currently running for president again in 2024 and began holding rallies in March 2023. Several other political references are made throughout the episode include:
    • The line "Joe and the Hoe have got to go" is a meme aimed at Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, alluding to accusations of Harris using sexual favors to advance her career in politics and formerly working as an escort, based on her relationship with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown.[4][5][6][7]
    • Garrison tells the people at his rally that the situation in Ukraine would not happen under his watch, referring to the Russian invasion of Ukraine and comments made by Trump about how the invasion would not have happened if he was still president at the time. He has since offered a plan to end the conflict within a 24 hour period if he wins in 2024, similar to claims he had previously made about ending wars in ISIS and Afghanistan within days or weeks.[8][9][10][11]
    • Garrison mentions "Hunter Biden's laptop", referring to Joe Biden's son, Hunter and his personal laptop being investigated after having been abandoned at a repair shop. The laptop had several concerning items such as pictures and videos of Hunter using illegal drugs, engaging in sexual activities with prostitutes and emails implying that he and possibly his father were engaging in questionable or shady business deals with China and Ukraine.[12][13]
    • During the party, Garrison yells out that they will take Georgia and Arizona this time, before claiming that he and the attendees knew he had won Arizona before. This is in reference to the 2020 presidential election, where Joe Biden won in those two states by a small margin, despite both being traditionally conservative red states. Trump then filed lawsuits against both states, making accusations of voter fraud occurring there, while Georgia has recently filed indictment charges against Trump, claiming that he tried to use his influence after ballots were counted to find the amount that he would need to win.[14][15][16]
    • While dancing in the bathroom, Garrison mentions getting rid of abortion rights and using the fire hose on Black Lives Matters protestors, likely alluding to the overturning of Roe V. Wade, as well as reports of Trump wanting to invoke the Insurrection Act and use military force on BLM protesters who attacked the White House and rioted in major cities across the U.S. following the death of George Floyd in 2020.[17][18][19] This specific use of force is controversial as fire hoses were commonly used against protesting crowds during the 1960s Civil Rights era.[20]
    • The final scene showing live action footage of people with Trump signs refers to the January 6th U.S. Capitol Attack, in which large waves of Trump supporters marched to the U.S. Capitol to express their disapproval of the 2020 election results and eventually entered the building, causing the Senate floor to be evacuated and several windows and offices within the building being damaged and looted.
  • The announcer calls Garrison "the once and future president," a reference to the novel The Once and Future King.
  • Throughout the episode, Randy mentions toxic masculinity, a term used to describe males adhering to certain traditional beliefs, such as using or glorifying violence, being sexually aggressive or not showing their emotions, that can be seen as harmful in modern society and lead to misogyny, sexism and rape culture. As Randy mentioned, some view the term as a liberal talking point that attacks traditional masculine traits and leaves boys and young men feeling ashamed about being males. [21][22]
  • Alonzo Fineski, the Romanian sex trafficker at Randy's party, is modeled after Andrew Tate, a British former kickboxer and social media personality who is a self described misogynist. At the time this episode originally aired, Tate and his brother were being held in a Romanian prison on sex trafficking charges.[23][24]

Goofs[]

Garrison's old side view.

  • Continuity error: The adult version of one of the 6th graders who appeared in South Park: Post Covid can be seen in the background when Rick is alone.
  • Shelley initially appears in the driver's seat when being taunted by Randy, but when it cuts to the next shot, she mysteriously moves to the front passenger seat.
  • Garrison mentions watching the sun set on the beach to entice Rick to go to Myrtle Beach. South Carolina lies on the East Coast, and therefore would not have sunsets on the beach, only sunrises.
  • When Garrison is laying in bed and looks around the room, the side view of his head from the early seasons is used, with the glasses resting in front of his eyes. In other scenes of the episode, such as his dinner with Rick, he uses the later side view where his glasses rest on top of his eyes.
  • In the same scene of Garrison and Rick laying in bed, the earring on Rick's right ear can be seen in his front view; however, it disappears in his side view.
