Trivia

• This is the fourth movie and the third "made-for-TV" movie of South Park, and the first "made-for-TV" movie to not have any relevance to the COVID-19 pandemic at all.
• Cartman demonstrating that hairspray sets on fire is a reference to South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut with Kenny using his matches and setting up his fart on fire.
• As of this special, Kyle and Kenny are the only boys at the Bus Stop.
• As of this special, Liane no longer gives into Cartman's demands and is visibly annoyed with his behavior. She is even unfazed when Cartman ends up getting breast implants.
• One of the South Park: The Stick of Truth OST music is heard when Steve looks up at the town's mountains.
• Several animations from the promo clips of the film have differed:
  • Cartman tries to tell his mother about how he feels living in a hotdog.
  • Cartman whining in front of his mother in the hospital.
• Parts of the series' title sequence are seen with limited characters in the background.
• The former school bus driver, Jose Venezuela, is replaced with a female bus driver.
• The ManBearBig map labels different areas as EEK, WHOA, UH-OH, WOW, YIKES, ZOINKS, GOLLY, HOLY COW, YOWZA, JEEZ and OH MY.

References to Popular Culture

• The water rights plotline is based on the film Chinatown; the Water Commissioner is dressed identically to Jake Gittes and is always smoking a joint; Gittes was always smoking a cigarette.
• Randy is called a "Karen" throughout the special. He learns what it means and ironically continues to act accordingly (such as calling the police or demanding to speak to a manager).
• Matt Damon is mentioned again in the series, the last mention was in "Pajama Day".
• Ariana Grande is mentioned by Kenny with having a dick.
• "Slippery When Wet" is heard while Randy waters his farm and during the opening intro.
• "WAP" is heard during Stan and Tolkien's montage with their streaming service boats.
• "Use Me" is heard when the town of Denver, Colorado uses Pi-Pi's pee water.
• Randy says to get that "fucking name out of your fucking mouth" (in response to being called Karen). This references the slapping incident during the 94th Academy Awards where Will Smith shouted similar words at Chris Rock after walking on stage and slapping Rock.
• Kelly Rutherford-Menskin is reading a J. R. R. Tolkien book titled Masterpieces.
• In the news website seen on Randy's computer, one of the articles in the side panel reads "War: What is it good for?", referencing the song titled "War" by The Temptations.
• The golf club owner is called Talnua Cussler, probably a reference to Talnua Distillery, based in Arvada, Colorado.
• The plot references the proliferation of streaming services, punning on media streaming and the streaming of water. Allusion is also made to how the desire of streaming services for large amounts of content leads to a diminishment in quality.[1][2]

Goofs

• The protractor which Cartman uses for his drawing has an incorrect number of markings on some sections.
• The plastic surgeon introduces himself as Dr. Stevens, however his name tag instead displays "Dr. Rick".
• When Cartman tells Liane that he is running away, he mentions staying with his grandmother who previously passed away in the Season Five episode "Cartmanland".
• In "Nobody Got Cereal?" ManBearPig was supposed to return in five years. Because that episode aired in 2018, he is a year early.
• In the scene when Cartman packs his stuff and leaves, his cassette recorder appears in two different shots.
