Safeway is a real-life chain of supermarkets that was first founded in American Falls, Idaho. One of the stores made its only physical appearance in the Season Sixteen episode, "Going Native".

In "Going Native", Stephen Stotch tells his son about their Hawaiian heritage, one of the things include eating poke that is provided by the Safeway there. Later on in the episode, there is a brief scene at the parking lot of Safeway shown when Kenny writes his letter to his friends.
In "Truth and Advertising", while reflecting on the changes made to South Park in Skeeter's Wine Bar, Randy states that everyone who used to live in South Park will have to move and shop at Safeway again.
