References to Popular Culture[]
- The Ads are very similar to the Blanks, the antagonists of the 2013 science-fiction-comedy film The World's End. Both can perfectly imitate humans, are relatively fragile and both bleed a blue liquid when damaged or destroyed. Furthermore, PC Principal fights a group of them at a pub, similarly to a scene near the end of the film.
- PC Principal uses a variation of the Voight-Kampff test question from the film Blade Runner (turtle in the desert) on the Russian bar patrons, in order to tell if they are human or Ads.
- The commander on the naval ship is named "Weathers", a reference to actor Carl Weathers.
- The gun show is a parody of the annual Thanksgiving Day broadcast of the National Dog Show, which is also sponsored by Purina, a pet food company.
- Randy mentions the British rock band Coldplay.
- The end scene is a reference to the 1996 movie The Arrival.
Continuity[]
- Tweek and Craig are seen holding hands in the school hallway as a continuation of their relationship since "Tweek x Craig".
- Butters is still in a neck brace from trying to commit suicide in "Safe Space". In addition, he is seen Skyping Charlotte, whom he formed a relationship with in "Where My Country Gone?".
- Kyle tells Leslie Meyers that he had gave up giving speeches, a plot point in "Where My Country Gone?".
- This episode marks the last appearance of Leslie Meyers, as she is killed by PC Principal.
- It is revealed that Mr. Mackey was responsible for getting Principal Victoria fired.
- Mackey states his betrayal was due to tiring of serving Victoria "for 18 years". This is a reference to the fact that he was introduced on 17 Dec 1997, and this episode aired 9 Dec 2015 - just one week shy of exactly 18 years.
- The latino boy that Officer Barbrady shot in the arm in "Naughty Ninjas" appears at the assembly, and appears to be completely fine.

- Kenny is standing on the left to Karen while Randy is yelling at the Whole Foods. The scene right after the Whole Foods lifts into the air, Kenny is standing in front of Karen, and to the right of her.
- When Classi throws her nail polish on the floor, no sound effect is heard on impact.
- Dotty Applegate is mistakenly called "Mrs. Farnickle" when buying a pistol from Jimbo's Guns.
