Trivia

• This is the final appearance of Satan. His former accomplice, Saddam Hussein, was written out himself many seasons before, in "It's Christmas in Canada."
• When Satan goes to Heaven, Kyle says "Dude, this is pretty fucked up right here", which was a catchphrase used by Stan in a few of the earlier episodes of the series.
• Randy says that Marvin has been talking about ManBearPig since he was fourteen.
  • Also, Marvin reveals that Randy was not a planned child.
• Kyle mentions that even some of Al Gore's predictions were wrong, referring to the fact that some of the statements that Gore has made about global warming and climate change in his 2007 film An Inconvenient Truth have been proven false.
• Real life restaurant Denny’s is shown in this episode.
• Stan arguing with his grandfather about the deal they made and how he didn't think about the consequences for the future generation is a reference to how millennials blame baby boomers for current day issues such as global warming and unaffordable housing.
• Marvin's car appears to be a 1978 Pontiac Firebird.
• This is the first episode since "Handicar" where Butters is absent, and also the only Season Twenty-Two episode not to feature him.
• Stan's signing a new deal with ManBearPig, which indicates that ManBearPig could have its revenge after five years, is very similar to what happened in Season 8 episode "Pre-School", where the boys falsely accuse Trent Boyett for injuring Miss Claridge so that Trent would be kept in juvenile hall for another five years. Both are heavy sarcasm about how little people think about their future.

References to Popular Culture

• Jared, a subsidiary of Sterling Jewelers, appears at the beginning of the episode.
• Pepper's ghost was used and referred to by Al Gore.
• Al Gore's spirit talking to the kids and Satan in the forest may be a reference to Obi-Wan Kenobi talking to Luke Skywalker in Return of the Jedi.
• The fight sequence between Satan and ManBearPig pays homage to the fight scene between The Hulk and Abomination in the 2008 Marvel Studios film The Incredible Hulk. Stan Lee, who created The Hulk among other Marvel superheroes had passed away two days before this episode originally aired.

Continuity

• A policeman is seen playing Red Dead Redemption 2, which is a continuation from the previous episode as it is also heavily referenced during "Nobody Got Cereal?"
• Several of the previous episodes in the season are referenced; school shootings are referenced several times and the Marshes are still living on a farm.
• Hugh, the South Park character based and drawn on the real-life person who won Omaze Campaign NEXT for AUTISM, appears in this episode as the host of the symposium. He was last seen in "Dead Kids" in a non-speaking role.

Goofs

• When Randy opens the door to let Stan inside the farmhouse, the puffball on Stan's hat is missing.
• When Al Gore is inside Kyle's room, Kyle's desk is first shown from the side and has a collection of books in the shelf underneath the killer whale plush doll. When the desk is shown from the front after Al turns on the lights, the shelf has a picture frame and a trophy where the books were originally at.
