In the episode "A History Channel Thanksgiving", it was revealed that she was the keeper of the wormhole that linked the planets Earth and Plymouth together. In order to allow the Pilgrim leader, Myles Standish, to return to Portsmouth and rally his people, Portman had to be persuaded to "open her wormhole". Although initially reluctant, after a romantic dinner with Kyle of DeVry, she was persuaded to do so, allowing Standish to return to his home world and defeat the Indians.
