References to Popular Culture

• The revised national anthem mocks the controversy regarding NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick's refusal to stand during the national anthem at his football games in protest of police brutality towards African-Americans.
• J.J. Abrams skill at "rebooting" franchises is mentioned, as seen with Star Trek and Star Wars. However, his reboot of the anthem is identical to the original, referencing the many people who thought that Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens rehashed too many old ideas from the original Star Wars trilogy (1977-1983).

Continuity
