Loogie (also referred to as Luigi) is a student at South Park Elementary and former tooth-trading kingpin who first appears in the Season Four episode, "The Tooth Fairy Tats 2000". He is modeled on a conventional mob boss and was involved in the tooth trade.

He is found at Loogie's Ristorante in his debut episode where he does his business, and he seems to share his name with the restaurant.

Background

In "The Tooth Fairy Tats 2000", he runs the local South Park tooth trading business and becomes annoyed when Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny muscle in on his "patch". He explained that he runs the local tooth trade just like two of his older brothers did before him, and employed tons of kids in his business, including Timmy to collect teeth and write notes so they can collect the money for the teeth later. His headquarters is in the back of his restaurant, where he was often found consuming spaghetti; he speaks with an accent typical to that of Italian mob bosses in media, though he reverts to a childish voice around adults such as Tom Foley, claiming his parents are outside the restaurant. He has henchmen who enforce his law, including trying to kill Kenny. When the tooth trade is discovered, he decides to quit, and joins a flag football team instead.

In "Professor Chaos", he appears as one of the candidates for The Boys' fourth friend. Although he does not have a speaking line, he does receive a rose to go on to the second round. He was referred to as Luigi by Kyle here.

He can be seen in the background at South Park Elementary in some episodes from the seventh to twelfth seasons, particularly in the gymnasium.

Appearance

Loogie wears a black pinstripe suit with a red tie, which is stereotypical of the Mafia popular culture. His hair is black, and he is more physically imposing than the majority of the kids, but without the obesity present in Cartman.

He is one of few kids who have visible ears in the show.

Personality

Loogie remains calm in most situations and possesses, or feigns, a cold and cruel personality, to the extreme of trying to murder Kenny. He communicates with his associates mostly through cell phones. Loogie will revert to a high-pitched voice when talking to adults, trying to hide his Mafia-like personality. It is uncertain which is his normal voice, and which is put-on. He does seem affable, however, explaining calmly to the boys how his business works and being willing to give up the tooth trade and focus on sports instead.

• He seems to have a slight persona from The Godfather, he could be inspired by Don Vito Corleone.
• Cartman referred to him as a "Polack", a derogatory term for someone who is of Polish descent.
• Due to scheduling conflicts, Trey Parker completed guest actor Richard Belzer's lines.^{[citation needed]}
• A "loogie" refers to a lump of phlegm or spittle hocked up from the throat.
