- This episode marks the first appearance of an entirely new opening sequence, which is a 3D-animation remake of the first intro.
- In the preview for this episode, Craig Tucker was in the scene where Eric Cartman explains what "Shitter" is. He is replaced by Clyde Donovan in the televised version.
- The first shot of the lunchroom is reused footage from "T.M.I.".
- This reused scene causes an error, as Millie Larsen is shown eating with some of the "popular girls" but in the next shot, she is shown sitting in a table with Isla. In addition, Wendy, Bebe, and Heidi switch places at the table.
- Color swaps of Lannie, Jenny Simons, and the boy with brown hair and red shirt are seen in the cafeteria. In addition, Lola's hair is shown much lighter, while a girl with hair that resembles the one of the girl with brown coat.
- This is the second time in which a real background of a neighborhood is used since the Season One episode, "Mecha-Streisand".
- Bill Hader voices Alec Baldwin in an uncredited role.
- The theme of the DMV being used as a church references certain elements of the Catholic church:
- The use of confession to atone for sins.
- Reciting several prayers after confession.
- Allegations of young boys being sexually abused by priests.
- The Colorado Department of Motor Vehicles logo used in this episode is actually based on the California DMV logo. In Colorado, the DMV stands for "Division of Motor Vehicles", and has a completely different logo.
- Jehovah's Witnesses are showed believing in hell in this episode, despite not believing of it's existence in reality.
- Their bible is also showned to have a cross on it, despite them believing that Jesus Christ didn't die on a cross.
References to Popular Culture[]
- The main plot is a parody of the TV show Dragnet, complete with the show's famous horn stinger.
- Cartman says while talking on the phone that he went to Amazon to see if they had Grand Theft Auto V, where it was suggested that he might also be interested in the Blu-ray for Star Trek.
- There are many references to the Department of Motor Vehicles in this episode. It is a name given to agencies in the United States that issue driver's licenses.
- The NSA head says hooking up Santa Claus to a machine will help them find out "who's sleeping and who's awake", which is a reference to the song "Santa Claus is Coming to Town".
- This episode also heavily references the National Security Agency.
- Indeed, when Cartman cries about discovering the NSA's conspiracy, he says he 'will have to move to Russia', a reference to Edward Snowden, an ex CIA employee who leaked information about the NSA. At the time, he was granted asylum by Russia as he fled the country.
- Cartman compares the NSA to the dictatorial government depicted in the dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell.
- This episode satirizes Alec Baldwin's misbehavior on social media site Twitter and in his daily life.
- Alec Baldwin had a real talk show on the MSNBC network which was called Up Late with Alec Baldwin. It was canceled after five episodes due to a leaked video that showed Baldwin verbally assaulting a paparazzi photographer with homophobic slurs.
- Alec Baldwin reveals personal information about actress Kim Basinger. They were married in real life from 1993 until 2002.
- During his rants on Shitter, Alec Baldwin mentions actresses Jennifer Love Hewitt and Daryl Hannah, as well as actors Jack Lemmon and Michael Douglas.
- At the DMV, Butters makes several pop culture references during his confession. Butters states he:

- This is Officer Barbrady's first major appearance since "Ass Burgers".
- This episode marks the first appearance of Nichole Daniels since "Cartman Finds Love". This is also the first appearance of the background character Monica Ryland, who plays a bigger role in South Park: The Stick of Truth.
Goofs[]
- Lannie is seen twice in the hallways, once in the far back talking to a group of boys, and in the hallways while Cartman broadcasts "Shitter".
- When Cartman is shown pledging allegiance at the DMV, the overweight clerk is seen at the right end of the counter, whereas another clerk is seen instead when Larry walks there.
- Alec Baldwin mentions having sex with the "Queen of Monaco" in 1992. In reality, Monaco's royalty is referred to as "Prince and Princess", and there was no Princess of Monaco in 1992. The Prince's wife, American actress Grace Kelly, had died in 1982 and the Prince would not remarry.
Deleted Scene[]
Butters announces that he is joyed by entering the DMV at the Community Center, he tells himself that he is way calmer than he can ever be. The drunk r******* are the only audience hearing, that this is supposed to be an AA meeting. One has called that the government does not care about anyone being under their watch. A woman there tries to defend Butters' opinion, but no one can understand her because of her voice.
