Trivia

  • Cartman accidentally tells Butters that he and his cousin touched wieners. His cousins have already been seen in "Merry Christmas Charlie Manson!" and "Cartmanland". Although Cartman does not say which of his cousins, it is very likely that he was referring to Elvin.
  • Stan Marsh and Kenny McCormick do not speak in this episode, but both can be seen in a few shots.
  • Ronald, the clerk who appears at the beginning of the episode, appeared in the crowd to take pictures of Britney Spears in "Britney's New Look ".
  • The explorer mascot for the Toy Safari store seen at the start of the episode looks very similar to the leader of the Super Adventure Club, the group who brain washed Chef into being a pedophile, which resulted in his near death in "The Return of Chef".
  • Craig Tucker is jealous of Cartman and Thomas for having Tourette's because of fan speculation that he has Tourette's.
  • When Cartman goes to tell Dateline he does not want to be on the show, there is a painting on the wall that resembles Van Gogh's Sunflowers.
  • At the toy store, an alien toy can be seen that is similar to that in "Spookyfish", but bigger.
  • Some of the sexual predators at the end of the episode are carrying things:
  • Lolas hair was metallic bronze in the first scene in the South Park Elementary School, but returns to it's usual form further along in the episode.
  • This is one of the few, if not the only, episodes where Cartman actually learns a lesson, even if Kyle did not mean for him to.
  • This is one of only five episodes not to censor the word "shit" in broadcast before its total acceptation on Comedy Central. Others include "Ike's Wee Wee", "It's Christmas in Canada", "It Hits the Fan", and "Imaginationland, Episode III".
    • This episode was one of the first to have the word "fuck" uncensored, outside of South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut.
    • This was the first episode to use the V sub rating; this episode was rated TV-MA LV.
    • This was the first and only episode to be entirely uncensored and to air on midnight.

References to Popular Culture

  • The episode's title is a play on the title of Jean-Luc Godard's 1963 film Le Petit Soldat.
  • When Cartman is in the toy store, there is a game called Wolf on one of the shelves. This is a reference to Okami; the box art is identical.
  • Cartman sings the song "I've Got a Golden Ticket" from the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
  • When waiting for an apology from Kyle, Bugs Bunny sounds effects are used for Cartman's blinking. This is one of the few occasional episodes in which cartoon sound effects are heard.
  • Chris Hansen's To Catch a Predator is referenced several times in this episode.
  • After discovering they were at a Chris Hansen show, the pedophiles shoot themselves. This satirizes a real event of Texas district attorney Louis Condrat committing suicide during a sting operation conducted by To Catch a Predator.

Goofs

  • Immediately after the scene in which Kyle admonishes Cartman for exploiting Tourette's, he is seen smiling about Cartman's nomination during the ceremony at Whistlin' Willy's.
    • Also, Shelly Marsh, who is usually morose and irritated, sports a toothy grin.
  • Cartman said that his grandmother had recently died then had a 'truth confession' that she was not dead, yet his maternal grandma died in "Cartmanland".
  • After Cartman's words were confused, Trey Parker's natural scream was used instead of Cartman's scream.
