Lava and You was a black and white training film shown in Season One episode, "Volcano".
Background[]
The film is a training film encouraging viewers to "duck and cover" to protect oneself from lava. Chef points out that this is complete rubbish and those who do "duck and cover" are killed. This is a parody of the types of films used during the 1950s for educational training films usually depicting hygiene, social etiquette, survival safety and moral lessons. This video however did not teach the citizens well, resulting them to "duck and cover" and not survive as lava goes straight through them and not over them just like the video.
Trivia[]
- The film was based on a real government initiative which encouraged people to duck and cover in order to protect themselves in the event of a nuclear detonation.

- However, one of the boys riding their bikes in the film is seen again in the Season Three episode "Spontaneous Combustion" this time without his propeller cap, the boy does not age at all despite the film being made 47 years prior to the debut episode of South Park.
- This also happens with the Stevens Family who appeared in the 1st scene of the video and appeared again in Mr. Hankey, the Christmas Poo, they also do not age.
