Kyle Broflovski, voiced by Matt Stone, is one of the four then five main characters of South Park.
Friends
He and Stan Marsh alternate as leader of their group/voice of reason. Kyle is evidently the only Jewish kid in town (of Russian and/or Polish ancestry) and is often mocked for it by Eric Cartman.
Family
His mother, Sheila Broflovski, is very overprotective; she instigates a war between the USA and Canada in the feature-length movie South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut because of (Canadian natives) Terrance and Phillip's extremely scatological R-rated movie. Mrs. Broflovski is very prone to "making a mountain out of a molehill" whenever she thinks something is threatening her son. Kyle's father Gerald Broflovski is a lawyer, but Kyle reiterates that despite his father's profession, they are not as wealthy as Token Black. Kyle also has an adopted younger brother, Ike Broflovski. Ike's birth parents are Canadian.

Smarts
Kyle is the smartest of the four main kids and also quite witty. Unlike Stan, however, he tends to be quite nervous and is less likely to want to get involved in uncertain situtations. He has the least amount of patience with the antics of his fairweather friend Eric Cartman.
Catch Phrase
Kyle's most notable catch phrase is to exclaim "You Bastard(s)!" following Stan's catch phrase "Oh my god, they killed Kenny!" whenever their friend Kenny McCormick gets killed
Appearance
He wears a bright green ear-flapped cap (or ushanka) , a bright orange jacket with black-edged pockets with a dark green collar, dark green pants and lime-green mittens. He is rarely shown without his cap, but without it he has a bright red-to-auburn Jew-fro. In Good Times with Weapons, his anime self is shown to have either brown or violet eyes.
Name Dispute
Kyle's last name has been alternately given as Broslovski, Broflovski, and Brovlovski in the series, although the characters say "Broflovski". In the episode Spontaneous Combustion there is a shot of Kyle's father Gerald's law office - on the façade it says 'Brovlovski'. In the Sexual harasssment episode his name is shown as 'Broflofski'.
Origin
Matt Stone has said that Kyle was loosely based on himself when he was younger.
Relationships
Next to Cartman, he seems to be the least interested in girls, of all five main characters. Bebe Stevens, however, fell in love with him in the Episode Clubhouses. She was especially turned on by his ass. He didn't share her feelings, though, and fled in terror after she kissed him. The only time he ever showed any interest in her was when she began developing breasts.
In Hooked on Monkey Phonics, he got a crush on a home-schooled girl named Rebecca Cotswalds. She didn't understand his ideas of love, though, but was interested in him nonetheless.
