Trivia

• "Bullshit" is uncensored in the French Canada song because Comedy Central thought the French Canadian said "Bonjour".
• This was Kenny's first death after his return following his absence in Season 6.
• Mr. Garrison suggests again that they get rid of all the Mexicans, when asked how to help the Broflovski Family. He suggested this for the first time in "Mr. Hankey, The Christmas Poo" during season 1.
• A 2001 Okama Gamesphere is seen behind the window of the toy store that Stan, Eric and Kenny are looking at. This was first seen in the episode "Towelie".
• This is the first Christmas special not to feature any appearance or mention of Mr. Hankey.
• Scott from "Terrance and Phillip in Not Without My Anus" reappears in this episode.
• This is Saddam's last appearance on the show. As there has been some time since this episode, it is unlikely that he will be used again.
• Terrance and Phillip are not with the other Canadians.
• When entering French Canada, Rick the Mountie says "about," instead of "aboot."
• This episode remains censored on South Park Studios.
• This episode was nominated for an Emmy Award.
• This is Eliza Schneider's last episode as the voices of the female characters in South Park due to pay issues.
• The episode is Uncensored on Blu-Ray, which was released in December 2017. 
• The Canadian provinces that are referenced in the episode include:
  • Ontario - Where Ottowa and the Canadian Parliment are located
  • Quebec - The location that French Canada is based on, as it has the largest population of Canadians of French descent and is located between Ontario and Newfoundland and Labrador.
  • Newfoundland and Labrador - The boys visit the island of Newfoundland.
• Steve The Newfoundlander's accent and being a fisherman is a reference to Newfoundland's culture:
  • Over half of the population in Newfoundland are of Irish or English descent, which heavily influenced Newfoundland English.
  • The fishing industry is a major part of Newfoundland's economy.
• The only road in Canada that the boys were following was most likely the Trans-Canada Highway. Although Canada does in fact have more than one road, the Trans-Canada Highway is the only road which stretches across all of Canada.

Cultural References

• Much of the story is a parody of the classic film The Wizard of Oz.
• Characters refer frequently to "the new Prime Minister." Paul Martin had taken office as Prime Minister just five days prior to the airing of the episode.
• The musical cue that plays during the City Wok scene where Tuong Lu Kim is sad about not getting any business is named Greensleeves.
• The scene where the boys crash in the plane is shown in the NZ show Bro Town episode "I Still Call Australia Home-oh" when Wong Wong is watching South Park on his cellphone.
• The scene where the boys are staring into the window of the toy store, with their noses pressed against it, is a reference to the same scene from "Towelie". The scene itself is a reference to the scene in the film, A Christmas Story, where Ralphie and his pals are also eyeballing the new toys they want for Christmas.

Continuity

• Saddam previously tried to take over Canada in "Terrance and Phillip in Not Without My Anus". Though that plan was foiled he is seen here as the new prime minister of Canada, only to be foiled again.

Goofs

• Rick the Mountie is singing along to the French Canada song.
• When Scott the Dick tells the boys that they will "rue this day" the door of the building behind them clips in front of a tree.
• The boys are shown walking from French Canada to Newfoundland via the only road in Canada. Newfoundland is actually an island separated from the rest of Canada and requires a ferry or airplane to travel between Quebec and Newfoundland.

Kenny's Death

• Shot by a laser fired by Saddam Hussein. This is his first death since his "permanent" death in "Kenny Dies" and his resurrection following the final episode of Season 6.
