Trivia

  • In the episode's trailer only Stan was shown to be aware of the fact he may be the source of the opium supplied to the entertainers like Chuck E. Cheese (there was no reference to other characters in it) while Kyle, Cartman and Kenny were depicted joyfully supporting Marcus Preston's chase after the drug dealer, however in the actual episode it was changed that all boys were shocked and knew what was going on.
  • Prominent students like Heidi Turner, Jimmy Valmer, Token Black, Timmy Burch are nowhere to be seen in the opening Marcus Preston's birthday scenes.
  • This is Marvin Marsh's first appearance in Season 21.
  • Shady Acres got a whole new and detailed look.
  • The name of the Shady Acres' receptionist is Vicky, while the two male nurses are Tony (Asian) and Toby (white).
  • File:Marvin Marsh's room in Shady Acres.png

Marvin Marsh's room in "Shady Acres"

In Marvin Marsh's room there are pictures seen in episodes like Cash For Gold (him and his now dead Border Collie) and a full family photo as seen in the Marsh Residence throughout the series; Along these there are 3 new photos, one of which is of Marvin with Grandma Marsh as a young couple, the other is of Great-Great-Grandpa Marsh, and the third is a silhouette-like depiction of a middle aged man.
  • In the cafeteria of Shady Acres a poster with the title "How To Manage Your Diabetes" can be seen above the food lounge, and to it's left a poster about heart diseases.
  • The J&G Shopping Network makes a cameo in the TV, promoting the sales of German Hummels.
  • Chuck E. Cheese is depicted different than his official look in this episode.
  • Unnamed characters dressed as Swiper from "Dora the Explorer" and "Peppa Pig" make an appearance in this episode, dying from opium overdose which they got from Stan Marsh in exchange for Hummels.
    • Interestingly the human dressed up as "Swiper" was a white woman, while the "Peppa Pig" was an African American male, despite both characters belong to the opposite sex.
  • When Vicky asks Eric Cartman if the boys are from the Protestant Youth Squad, he doesn't understand what she is talking about and replies: "Yes, we're young prostitutes".
  • There are familiar old people in the nursing home from previous episodes about it, including the lady who hired the boys to look for her missing pie at the beginning of Lil' Crime Stoppers and the lady who had a car accident in "Grey Dawn". Maybe hinting that their spouses are now dead and that they needed a place to be taken care of.
  • The "Merry Wanderer", "Happy Traveler", "Ride Into Christmas" and "Stormy Weather" Hummels that are shown are actual figurines from the Hummel Collections.
  • The songs that the kids sing a capella style at Shady Acres are:
    • "Insane in the Membrane" by Cypress Hill
    • "Milkshake" by Kelis
    • "Rape Me" by Nirvana
    • "Two Princes" by Spin Doctors
    • "When I Come Around" by Green Day
  • The song that plays when the interior of Shady Acres is first shown is "Stress" by Continental Five
