• As of this episode, the bus' look has been updated since it's last in "A History Channel Thanksgiving".
• In the promo of the episode, when the coach of the Washington Redskins football team is telling Cartman how offended he is by Cartman's company name, Robert Griffin III is with him. But in the actual episode, it is changed to Kirk Cousins, after Robert Griffin III got injured.
• The shot of the town slowly zooming in is very similar to the one found in South Park: The Stick of Truth.

• This episode satirizes several NFL controversies and scandals.
  • The main plot parodies the controversy surrounding the name of the Washington Redskins football team, which many called offensive due to "redskin" being a derogatory slur for Native Americans, and how the trademark on the team's name was not renewed on those grounds in July 2014.
  • There is mention of the scandal regarding Baltimore Ravens player Ray Rice's assault of his wife in an elevator caught on a security camera. The incident itself was spoofed during the Redskins' raid on the Kickstarter headquarters, where a female employee tries to escape in an elevator, only the scene to cut to the point of view of a security camera revealing a Redskins player about to attack her.
  • This episode also addressed the controversy regarding NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's underwhelming statement in the wake of a series of abuse scandals (including the Ray Rice incident mentioned above) that rocked the NFL. Here, Goodell is depicted as a malfunctioning robot, wherein the actual audio of his statement was used.
• The scene where Dan Synder sheds a single tear along a highway road is a reference to the famous "Crying Indian" anti-pollution PSA.
• This episode satirizes Apple and its launch of the iPhone 6 during Cartman's several keynote presentations. This includes Cartman's emphasis on being "new and innovative", despite making only minor changes, such as changing the company logo and rearranging office furniture. Cartman also emphasizes the company being "firm, yet flexible", possibly referencing Apple's technical issues with the iPhone 6 bending.
• This episode also makes fun of the website Kickstarter.

Continuity

• This is the second time the "Redskins" name has been referenced, regarding the allegedly offensive nature of the name. In the Season Eight episode, "Douche and Turd", Mr. Garrison names the "Redskins" and the "Indians" as possible new mascots for South Park Elementary, in response to PETA protesting their use of the Cows, to which Wendy asks, "But aren't 'Indians' and 'Redskins' just as offensive?"

Goofs

• During the original airing of the episode, when all the NFL football team owners are shown during the Skype meeting with Dan Snyder, the 49ers are represented by Gideon Yu, former team president and current minority owner, rather than Jed York, CEO of the 49ers. The error was later corrected, as current airings and online streaming of the episode now show Jed York representing the 49ers during the Skype meeting.
