Trivia[]
- The bank notes in "Terrance and Phillip Give Us Your Money " are converted into Canadian Dollars.
- The little boy that Jimmy tries to persuade to buy the Terrance and Phillip mobile game uses the design of the boy with brown hair and red shirt, though it is unlikely it is him, as the boy is younger and his hair color is a lighter shade of brown.
- This episode was nominated for Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program.
- In the episode, it is said that mium is Latin for "not really." However, it actually means nothing in Latin; "freemium" is a portmanteau of "free" and "premium".
- Below is a list of videos that make up the alcohol commercial:
- Four women toasting with cocktails[1]
- Pouring beer into a glass[2]
- Pouring whiskey into a glass[3]
- A woman tossing money on bed[4]
- Four people toasting with wine[5]
- A woman in white bikini drinking champagne[6]
- A couple drinking tequila[7]
- Four women toasting, accompanied by a male stripper[8]
- A woman drinking bottled water[9]

References to Popular Culture[]
- The episode's title is a reference to the phrase "freedom isn't free".
- The title could also be a reference to the track "Freedom Isn't Free", written by Trey Parker for his & Matt Stone's 2004 film Team America: World Police.
- Phillip compares the head of Canadian Bureau of Mobile Gaming to Al Pacino's role as the Devil in the film The Devil's Advocate.
- Randy Marsh uses half correct terms like total addiction tendencies, passing your demons and compensating, revealing that he has some bare knowledge of proper scientific base on addictive tendencies, possible genetic predisposition (neither including nor discluding co-existing disorders), and their ramifications, perhaps due to his time in Alcoholics Anonymous, but it is obviously incomplete, not to mention the simple fact that it is also a lifelong struggle that doesn't seem to imparted this self-awareness on Randy either, but then he actually might turn out to be even worse an alcoholic if it did, as he was in "Bloody Mary."
- Randy Marsh swears that several glasses of wine he poured for himself are for a wine tasting, a fairly common experience. However, his supposed premise fails in many respects.
- Although some in more relaxed settings or sometimes store demos do indeed consume the wine anyway, it is standard pratice to spit out the wine into a receptacle given for this very purpose. This prevents the taster(s) from having their opinions altered by imbibing.
- To further the above end, much less wine is poured per glass. A few small mouthfuls is all that's necessary. On top of this, crackers--i.e. unsalted tops--are provided to cleanse the palate between glasses.
- Only absolutely done in professional setting and exclusive clubs, the wine is actually swished about the mouth for a moment before being evacuated.
- There are certain qualifications that must be considered during the tasting. Randy is clearly drunk. His opinion would not be considered in any "normal" setting. In fact, he might be disqualified from entry or even arrested, depending on the circumstance.
- Jimmy standing on the street corner with his phone to entice kids into playing the Terrance and Philip Game is similar to common portrayals in fiction of drug dealers pushing narcotics.
- The fake currency displayed shows Clams from ''Family Guy: The Quest For Stuff, Donuts from The Simpsons: Tapped Out, and Gems, which are a common premium currency in many freemium mobile games.
- Yum Yum Sparkly Gem Forest may be a parody of a freemium mobile puzzle game Candy Crush Saga.
- NC9 is based on CBC News.
- The scene where the Parliament building is on fire is likely a reference to Parliament Hill shootings which occurred two weeks prior to the episode, on October 22, 2014.
Continuity[]
- This is Satan's latest appearance since "Hell on Earth 2006".
- Randy only drinks wine and gluten-free Pabst Blue Ribbon.
- Randy asks Stan how many songs he thinks he'll have to write to cover the money Stan paid on the Terrance and Phillip game, referencing that he's Lorde.
- The seemingly never-ending continuation of Randy's many storied addictions, alcoholism or otherwise (i.e. cannibis). The only truth is that Randy is so hard on everybody else and their vices while he once again refuses to even acknowledge his own, a running stereotype of modern culture and a huge trend of and point in South Park as a whole.
- Jimmy's mentioning how he got help from a higher power is a callback to when Randy was forced to attend AA Meetings in "Bloody Mary" and how, in addition to being an incurable disease (or really disorder), they are all about asking for help from a power higher than themselves.
- The Three Feathers Indian Casino from "Red Man's Greed" makes a reappearance.
- The phrase "This is a sad day for Canada and, therefore, the entire world." by the news reporter was used in "Royal Pudding" by a news reporter covering the Royal Wedding.
- The Prince of Canada returns, from "Royal Pudding".
Goofs[]
- The Terrance and Phillip game says the best deal is $50 for 5,700 Canadian coins (equivalent to 114 coins per dollar). However, the best deal is actually 200 coins for 49¢ (408 coins per dollar).
