Crippled Summer "Crippled Summer/Trivia" "Poor and Stupid/Trivia" "It's a Jersey Thing/Trivia" It's a Jersey Thing

This page contains trivia for "Poor and Stupid". Remember, trivia must be factual, provable, and it is always best to cite your source for not-so-obvious trivia. If you would like to dispute a trivia point, please discuss it in the talk page.

Trivia[]

  • Stan and Kyle do not reappear after the first scene in this episode.
  • Cartman calls Butters by the nickname or petname 'B-Butts' for the first time in the series.
  • Memory loss is not a real side effect of Vagisil.
  • Matt and Trey stated before the episode aired that Kenny was going to die on the NASCAR track. However, when the episode aired, the two cars that were bearing down on Kenny swerved into the sides of the track and exploded (most likely killing the drivers, though given the safety of modern NASCAR cars, there is a possibility they survived with injuries). As a result, Kenny survives.
  • This is Kenny's first major "protagonist" role in Season 14 - it is his first for a while, since the previous episode with him as a major story element (not counting Mysterion roles) was "The Ring", and the previous time he had been the "hero" (in this episode he is trying to convince Cartman he was wrong) was in "Best Friends Forever".
  • Kyle or Stan would usually be the ones to try and convince Cartman he is wrong. One major difference is that Kenny's reasons are personal, whereas Kyle or Stan would normally do it out of a sense of morality.
  • This is one of the few episodes where Butters uses explicit curse words.
  • Danica Patrick is among the full-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series drivers, however, she never ran a single Sprint Cup race in 2010. She did run four NASCAR Nationwide Series (second-tier) races in 2010, in addition to her full-time IndyCar season, before running a full-time schedule in 2012. She did not race in the Sprint Cup Series until 2012 (a ten-race schedule), and not full-time until 2013. She also does not use the number 7 (her IndyCar and Nationwide Series number) in Sprint Cup because Robby Gordon, who was using the number at the time, would not give up the number. She instead uses number 10 (her go-kart number).
  • The only NASCAR drivers that died in the episode are Danica Patrick and Tony Stewart.

References to Popular Culture[]

  • This episode is a parody of Tom Cruise's Days of Thunder movie.
  • The song "La Grange" by ZZ Top can be heard when the stolen car guns it in each race.
  • Real life NASCAR drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr., Jimmie Johnson, Danica Patrick, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Matt Kenseth can be seen at the press conference with Cartman.
  • Cartman is shown watching Two and a Half Men to help with his stupidity.
  • One of the products seen in Cartman's house after Kenny confronts him is a iRobotics Room-Bot, which is a parody of the iRobot Roomba robot vacuum cleaner.
  • According to Trey Parker and Matt Stone in the commentary, the dipping scene was inspired by a "dipvid" (a video featuring someone consuming chewing tobacco or "dip" while commenting on random topics) on YouTube. The video, which was copied almost word for word, was about flavored tobacco products being banned and demanding that then-President Barack Obama be impeached for the ban.

Continuity[]

  • Cartman exclaims "This is so tits!" when receiving the Vagisil NASCAR car. He says this in the Season Four premiere, "The Tooth Fairy Tats 2000", where Cartman uses 'tits' as an expression for 'cool' or 'awesome' whenever he gets money from the Tooth Fairy.

Goofs[]

Kenny at the Bar Furiously Pounds the Counter (Error)

Kenny's eyes disappear.

  • At the beginning of the episode, Clyde Donovan, Annie Knitts, and Bradley Biggle are seen leaving the school, but in the next shot, they are seen in the school hallway, even though they are supposed to be outside.
  • When Kenny is sitting at the bar in Mick's Lanes, his eyes disappear for a few frames as he pounds the counter.
  • After Butters gives canned food and clothes to the "needy" NASCAR fans, two identical brown haired woman (wearing the same purple shirt, grey skirt and black shoes) appear on both sides of him as he skips away.
  • Just moments after the doctor tells Cartman he has two fractured ribs, a broken femur, torn ligaments, two broken knees, and a level two concussion, Cartman walks out of his bed, and in the next scene, seems completely unharmed. However, these injuries would make anyone immobile for a long period of time.
  • Dale Earnhardt Jr's name is spelled "Dale Earnhart Jr" during the press conference.
  • When Cartman rewinds the Vagisil advert, its scenes appear out of sequence.
