Trivia[]

  • Mr. Derp cameos in the background when Garrison returns.
  • Mr. Garrison's final speech is ironic given his actions in "Mr. Garrison's Fancy New Vagina" where he immediately wishes for a sex change back when he realizes he cannot get an abortion.
  • When Mr. Garrison is talking to the Police Chief about his missing penis, a framed photo of a child who looks remarkably like Stan can be seen hanging behind the Police Chief's desk. The boy is not wearing Stan's hat, but his hair is similar to Stan's whenever his hat comes off and he is wearing the football jersey and number that Stan wore in "Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride." Whether this was intentionally done by the writers or if it is simply a coincidence is unknown.
  • This episode is the last to focus on Mr. Garrison until Season Nineteen's "Where My Country Gone?".
  • This is the last episode to feature Herbert Garrison as a woman.
  • The van of Frederick Johnson can be seen parked in front of the school where Cartman begins teaching.

References to Popular Culture[]

  • Garrison mentions a man who was formerly a woman and now is a man who got pregnant, referencing the real-life transgender man Thomas Beatie, who got pregnant and made a public appearance in The Oprah Winfrey Show days before the premiere of this episode.
  • Cartman's stint teaching in an inner city school is a parody of the film Stand and Deliver.
    • As stated in this episode's commentary, the idea of cheating to win is partly in reference to the New England Patriots cheating during the NFL's season in 2007. This is also referenced in the episode along with Patriots coach Bill Belichick.
    • The high school Cartman teaches at is named Jim Davis High School. In Stand and Deliver, the school was Garfield High School. Jim Davis is the creator of the Garfield comic.
  • The mouse with an ear on its back is a reference to the Vacanti mouse.
  • The escape and pursuit of the penis-backed mouse is an allusion to the runaway Archie, a mechanical penis constructed by Kryten in the Red Dwarf series episode "Pete".
  • When Stephen Stotch is loading groceries, a box of Dr. Pep-er soda can be seen, a reference to Dr. Pepper.
  • In the next scene with the shrieking woman in front of the Komfort Inn (itself a parody of Comfort Inn), the woman's luggage is modeled after the main design of Louis Vuitton.
  • The student Cartman gives the abortion pep talk to has a tattoo of a character that looks like Betty Boop.
  • The mouse segments that took place in a restaurant's kitchen is a reference to the 2007 Disney-Pixar animated film Ratatouille.
  • Each time a female character sees the penis mouse, they shriek and jump onto a stool/chair and lift their dress/skirts, referencing to classic cartoons like Tom and Jerry and Looney Tunes.
  • The song that the penis-backed mouse sings in the moonlight is a reference to "Somewhere Out There" from An American Tail.

Continuity[]

  • In the Jim Davis High School classroom, a student can be seen playing a PlayStation Portable, which was prominently featured in "Best Friends Forever".
