Pop-Culture/Historical References

  • Stan's favorite show Terrance and Phillip is a partial parody of popular adult themed cartoon Beavis & Butt-Head. The title characters of this series often sat on their couch and would exchange fart jokes and other toilet humor.
  • When debating the subject of assisted suicide, Kyle mentions a guy named "Jack Leborkian" who "goes around and murders people who asks him to, and he doesn't get in any trouble at all." Kyle is referring to pathologist Jack Kevorkian who subject of controversy in the 90's for his involvement in nearly 100 assisted suicides between the years 1990 to 1998.
  • Jesus not wanting to "touch" the subject of assisted suicide with a "sixty foot pole" is most likely a comment on the Catholic belief that in most cases assisted suicide would be considered a sin.
  • The Cartoon Central TV network is an obvious parody of Comedy Central, the TV Network that airs South Park.
  • Mrs. Broflovski demands more "quality" television like the TV show Full House.
  • The song that Stan's grandpa forces him to listen too is Orinoco Flow by Enya.
  • Bowing down to protests, Cartoon Central replaces Terrance and Phillip with She's the Sheriff starring actress Suzanne Somers.

Goofs

  • In the beginning of the episode, where the cake is shown on the table, it is there one moment, then after it zooms in on Marvin Marsh it's gone, only to be back after Stan proclaims that it's 8'oclock.
  • When Grandpa Marsh tries to kill himself with a shotgun while Stan is watching TV, he shoots a picture frame. But after he yells out "Damnit!" due to his failure to kill himself, the shotgun is missing.
  • After the fart from Terrance, Stan's laugh bears a resemblance, and is most likely the same as, to Kyle's laugh.
  • When Sheila Broflovski goes to turn on the TV after Terrance and Phillip gets cancelled, the bottom part of the TV is missing.
  • When the TV store has a scene where Terrance and Phillip are in outer space, they both have American flags on their chests, not Canadian flags.
  • In the fireside chat, the dog changes twice, then to a toy, then to another dog.
  • There are 77 candles on the cake. Due to symmetry (many are seen on both sides) there would be 100. Grandpa Marsh is 102.
