Costa Rica is a country in Central America, on the gulf coast of the Caribbean Sea. It was featured in the Season Three episode "Rainforest Shmainforest" when some of the students of South Park Elementary went with the singing activist group "Getting Gay With Kids" in order to learn about the rainforest.
Costa Rica translates to English as Rich Coast for it vast rainforest and scenic views of the Caribbean bay. The activist tour group arrive in the capital San Jose and meet with the President who assigns the class a tour guide for their exploration. The class meets a local tribe and encounters many dangerous wildlife and a guerilla army. At the end of the tour the group learns that the rainforest is dangerous place and would be better for people to build towns and farms in its place.
