Trivia[]

References to Popular Culture[]

  • The boys are playing "Americans vs. Bosnians" during recess, however historically speaking, the United States never battled Bosnians (an umbrella term for all the belligerents in Bosnian War) but mostly Bosnian Serbs. During the Bosnian War from 1992 to 1995, three Bosnian ethnicities fought each other, with the United States going against a United Nations arms embargo, allowing and then supporting smuggling of weapons from Saudi Arabia, Iran, Pakistan etc. into Bosnia to help the Bosnian Muslim war effort against Bosnian Serbs, Bosnian Croats and another fraction of Bosnian Muslims.
  • Cartman tries to get away with being unharmed when "shot" while playing "Americans vs. Bosnians", by telling Stan that he has "Class 4 armor". This gameplay terminology is reminiscent of that used in the role playing game Dungeons & Dragons.
  • Sharon tells Stan to watch a "quality" show like Fat Abbot. Fat Abbot is a parody of Fat Albert, a cartoon that ran from 1972 to 1985, created by former comedian Bill Cosby. Unlike Fat Abbot, Fat Albert was presented as a wholesome, and somewhat educational, cartoon.
  • The Bill Cosby look-alike on Fat Abbot tells the children to eat Jell-O pudding. Bill Cosby is a former spokesperson for Jell-O brand pudding.
  • Cartman's design for a tree house is called the "Ewok Village 2000 Deluxe Club House Kit w/Elevator". It is named after the Ewoks from the Star Wars franchise, and is modeled after the elevated tree-huts they inhabited in the film Return of the Jedi.
  • Mr. Garrison is teaching the children the ratings history of the television series The Love Boat which ran from 1977 to 1986. He mentions that while musician Charo appeared on the series 12 times, the single episode featuring Captain & Tennille had higher ratings. In reality, Charo guest starred on the Love Boat a total of 8 times, and Captain & Tennille never appeared together on the show at all. Toni Tennille, of Captain & Tennille, did however appear in two episodes.
    • Garrison goes on to say that they brought back the Love Boat but it failed, likely due to actor Robert Urich's poor acting. The Love Boat: The Next Wave aired on UPN from 1998 to 1999 and was canceled. It starred Robert Urich as Captain Jim Kennedy.
  • Cartman blows off a laundry list of jobs that he said needed to be done on the clubhouse while Kenny was supposed to go look for chicks. Cartman instead heads inside to watch the American Gladiators, an American Sports Competition style show featuring amateur athletes competing against each other, and the show's athletes, in feats of agility and strength from 1989 until 1996.
  • One of the teenage girls that Kenny finds wears a DVDA shirt. DVDA is the name of the band which Trey Parker and Matt Stone are a part of. It is also a slang sexual term meaning Double Vaginal Double Anal, an act involving a woman inserting two penises into her vagina, and two into her anus, at the same time.
  • The song playing as Kenny is killed in the mosh pit is "Piece of Meat" by the band Dr. Know.
Clubhouses Randy's Car

Randy's 1989 Corvette Convertible

  • After Stan is informed by Sharon, that she and Randy are divorced, she drags Stan from his clubhouse to the front yard, as Randy pulls up with a 1989 Chevrolet Corvette. This popular American sports car is widely known as being a go-to car for people experiencing a "midlife crisis".[1]
  • Wendy's ideal double date between her and Stan, and Kyle and Bebe, would include "sipping cognac by the fireplace". Cognac, a type of aged brandy originating from France, is made from distilled wine that is aged in wooden barrels.

Goofs[]

  • In the initial airing, when Randy supposedly calls Sharon a "c***", the word is bleeped, leading the viewer to believe he actually says "c***". However, his mouth is animated to the movements for the word "b****", and in the uncensored version, he says "b****" without the bleep.
    • This joke only really works with the censored version as well as the follow-up line Randy has where he questions if he actually said "c***", leading the viewer to believe that he himself believes he did not say it, which according to his facial animation, he did not.
  • In the scene when teens are partying at Cartman's clubhouse, 6th Grader Leader has dark green hair instead of brown.
  • In the opening shot, Bebe's hair is brown, while Annie's hair is in a darker shade of yellow.
  • In the classroom before Bebe writes the note, her eyebrow is yellow.
  • Randy turns off the TV when Stan and Kyle walk into the living room. However, it is turned back on when Sharon walks in.
  • Tolkien is shown without a face at one point.
  • When Sharon introduces Roy to Stan, for a split second Stan’s one eye disappears and then reappears.

Kenny's Death[]

  • Kenny dies by being trampled in a mosh pit in Cartman's clubhouse. Cartman says "Oh my god they killed Kenny!" and Kyle, as he is walking past, yells "You Bastards!".
    • This is one of the many times it has varied.
