Trivia[]
- The policemen break the fourth wall by saying that Veronica Crabtree had not been in any recent episodes and was "one [character] that the fans wouldn't miss much".
- Although dead, Ms. Crabtree's appearance is slightly updated in this episode.
- Cartman and Kyle's backyards are very different in this episode.
- This is the first episode to feature KFC.
- An episode of That's My Bush! (more specifically "Mom 'E' D.E.A. Arrest"), also created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, can be heard playing on Cartman's TV before he is kidnapped.
- The background character Nate appears with blonde hair in this episode.
References to Popular Culture[]
- This central premise of the episode is a spoof of the book and film The Dead Zone.
- The psychic battle scene is similar to the one in the movie Scanners. When Eric Cartman is warning Kyle Broflovski he can make his head explode, it is also a reference to an iconic scene of the same movie. Both Scanners and The Dead Zone are directed by a Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg.
- The scene in the killer's basement is a parody of a similar scene in the movie Red Dragon and, retroactively, a scene in the TV series, Hannibal. Cartman has to look at the killer's vacation pictures and see his "transformation". This is similar to Freddy Lounds, or Frederick Chilton, being captured by the killer Francis Dolarhyde and forced to look at the murderer's victims, while he repeatedly asks "Do you see?".
- Butters Stotch telling Kyle not to fly too close to the sun because it will burn his wings and make him crash in the ocean is a reference to the story of Icarus and Daedalus from Greek mythology.
- The psychic detective's line "Let this be our final battle!" references Skeletor in Masters of the Universe.
Continuity[]
- Cartman has a vision of a man making "quadruple stufs" by taking tops of two double stuffed cookies and putting them together. He previously expressed his love for them in "Chef Goes Nanners".
- Mrs. Crabtree and the bird that rests in her hair are killed off in this episode. They are murdered by Michael Deets off screen, who also removes the former's left arm and the latter's left wing. Since her death, the bus driver is now Jose Venezuela.
- John Edward and psychics in general were also mocked in a previous episode, "The Biggest Douche in the Universe".
Goofs[]
- When Kyle tells the police about Cartman never having any psychic visions, the lines on the pillow his head is resting on go through his hat.
