Trivia

  • By the time Yates arrested the pimp, he was doing nothing illegal as he was technically sleeping with his "wife" and not a prostitute.
  • Many have noticed that this is the only episode where Butters swears often. He swears occasionally in other episodes, but generally only uses euphemisms like "Oh hamburgers!".
  • In this episode, Butters' most commonly used swear is "motherfuckin".
  • The running gag through the episode is the fact that Yates takes his undercover assignment too far, and seemingly doesn't realize he doesn't need for them to have sex with him to arrest them for soliciting prostitution.
  • It is unknown why the police chose Sgt. Yates to go undercover, since his mustache makes him obviously male, although it's likely he forgot to shave it. It is shown that women work at the police department also, as shown in "Super Fun Time".
  • Butters telling Kyle "Sorry I'm not your little buddy anymore." is possibly a reference to Eric Stough's (the person Butters is loosely based on) nickname of "Little Buddy".
  • This is the second episode to include Butters' name in the title, with "Butters' Very Own Episode" being the first.

Referenced to Popular Culture

  • One of the pimps that gives Butters advice ("It's all about mind control") is designed after comedian Katt Williams, with a similar voice and outfit.
  • Butters goes to ACORN to get a loan for his kissing company referencing the ACORN prostitution scandal
  • The song Sergeant Yates dances to is titled "Fuck the Pain Away" and performed by Peaches.
  • According to the commentary track, the documentary American Pimp was an inspiration for this episode.

Continuity

  • Scott Malkinson returns, so he may be a regular character on the show now, and thus, a new classmate in fourth grade.
  • Cartman also was an undercover prostitute in the episode of season 2 called "Chickenlover".
  • Kanye West is seen when Butters goes to the pimp convention drinking alcohol, therefore proving Kanye is still alive in South Park's world. He is also shown in "200", and has a more expanded role in "The Hobbit".
  • When Butters arrives at the meeting of pimps, the reaction is the same as in the episode "Krazy Kripples".
  • Rebecca Cotswolds kissed Butters in "Hooked on Monkey Fonics".

Goofs

  • In the scene after Butters suggests starting an actual company he mentions a "Caitlin", however according to the chart behind him his "employees" are called Annie, Megan, Sally and Ashley.
  • Butters actually already had his first kiss before this episode, in "Hooked on Monkey Fonics", by an out of control Rebecca.
  • In a scene where Yates is undercover, the outside view of the car shows it in a wide-open area, but when the police move in for the arrest, the car is in an alley.

Hidden Visitor(s)

  • When Butters is looking at his bitch's sticker chart a small drawing of a visitor can be seen in the top right corner.
