*Cartman's voice here sounds lower than it normally is, much alike Stan's.

This page contains trivia for "Bass to Mouth". Remember, trivia must be factual, provable, and it is always best to cite your source for not-so-obvious trivia. If you would like to dispute a trivia point, please discuss it in the talk page.

Trivia

  • This is the first time Lemmiwinks, Sparrow Prince and Catatafish appear in the together since "The Death Camp of Tolerance", although the Frog King appeared briefly in "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset".
  • This is the very first time all the illusionary animals Lemmiwinks met show themselves to the students and the school as well as to the public.
  • We learn that Lemmiwinks had an older brother named Wikileaks.
  • This is the fifth episode this season Scott Malkinson can be seen in the background.
  • The child who has Lemmiwinks is similar to Cartman; he is fat, calls for his mom when he wants something, and has a similar voice. However he is not really spoiled and is younger than Cartman.
  • Lemmiwinks is missing his crown, which he given to by The Frog King in "The Death Camp of Tolerance". The Child could have taken it from him.
  • Lemmiwinks is given nothing in this episode; in "The Death Camp of Tolerance" he was given The Magic Helmet Torch and a Crown.
  • When the school faculty throws Eric Cartman under a bus literally they are parodying the term used in reality shows by throwing someone under the bus. It usually means blindsiding someone, lying to someone to get the self even further in a game show, or screwing someone over.
  • This second time Cartman is shown being calm the entire time when exacting revenge on someone; the other time was in "T.M.I.", where he quickly and calmly sends a text about his therapist having an affair with a teenager to his wife. All other times, Cartman had been less than calm.
    • Although Cartman was very frustrated through the episode "Scott Tenorman Must Die", his ultimate (and, in that episode, only succesfull) revenge plan was also commited in a calm way.
  • It is unknown as to whether or not Lemmiwinks cares about killing his brother Wikileaks, as his feelings are only said by The Three Animal Ghosts. Lemmiwinks shows no emotion or intelligence above an ordinary gerbil. However, he did apparently answer a riddle told to him by Catatafish, meaning he could be intelligent.
  • Catatafish is shown using a trident in this episode, and calls himself a wizard, whereas in " Death Camp of Tolerance ", he has a gun, and does not say what he is.
  • Country music star Brad Paisley was credited as a voice actor for this episode. He is a fan of the show and got the opportunity to do background voices. Source
  • Despite being part of Stan's group of students, Bebe Stevens and Red do not speak in this episode.
  • Although Mr. Adler has made several background appearances, especially in recent seasons, this is his first major appearance since his debut twelve years ago in "Tweek vs. Craig"
  • Jenny Simon's name is revealed; she was first seen in "The List" and has remained a background character ever since.
  • One of the men Butters accidentally shot in the crotch at P.F Chang's in "The China Problem" is seen on the bus. He was the first man who was shot in the crotch by Butters.
  • Pete Melman's name is similar to former character Pete Thelman
  • The School Nurse on the phone does not sound like Nurse Gollum or Ms. Bronski. This means that there is more than one nurse working at South Park Elementary
  • This episode was in production for several weeks - the brief clip where Principal Victoria promises to Cartman to make it worth his while was seen during Matt and Trey's 60 Minutes interview which aired before the fifteenth season's second half began.
    • This may be due to the animation required for Lemmiwinks and the animal ghosts; one reason why "The Return of Lemmiwinks" was scrapped in 2004 in favor of "AWESOM-O" was the complex animation.
  • When Counsellor Mackey writes 'M'Kay' in Cartman's suicide note, this is the second time he has given himself away as the genuine culprit during a moment of badness by using his catchphrase. The last was during a prank phone call to Mr. Garrison during the search for Mr. Hat in the Season 2 episode "Summer Sucks"
  • This episode once again showcases Eric Cartman's manipulative intellect (he is able to trick Jenny Simon into feeling sorry for him, despite the fact that she most likely knows of all the evil things he has done. He was also able to create a plan to have Jenny Simon and Pete Melman no longer be singled out in a matter of seconds).
  • Selena Gomez getting beaten up is a reference to her getting puched in the face, allegedly by a jealous Justin Bieber fan, while on his 17th birthday date.
  • Cartman's voice here sounds lower than it normally is, much alike Stan's.

Cultural References

  • The prime subject of this episode is a reference towards the WikiLeaks scandal.
  • Eavesdropper is a parody of celebrity tabloid news websites TMZ, National Enquirer and Perez Hilton.
  • The title is also a reference to the term "ass to mouth", a sexual practice involving felatio immediately following anal sex. It is also a reference to the spread of gossip, from mouth to mouth.
  • The idea that Lemmiwinks has to fight his brother (a fellow rodent), the song when he finds out he has to kill his brother and the image of Wikileaks are all references to "The Secret of NIMH 2".
  • Like the episode "Death Camp of Tolerance", this episode parodies several scenes and songs from the Rankin/Bass special of "The Hobbit" most notably the song "Goblin Town" playing on the city bus.
  • In the Library a poster for Ernest Hemingways' book The Old Man and The Sea is shown next to a poster saying "Read or Die" with a picture of a handgun. Ernest Hemingway commited suicide with a gun.
  • There are many references to suicide related cyber bullying in this episode.
  • Token's gym photos are a reference to the to the Rep. Anthony Wiener scandal that cost him his job.
  • When Catatafish first greets the children in the music room he calls them "Children of Adam" this is a term used by Aslan in C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia series of fantasy books.
  • The fight between Lemmiwinks and Wikileaks is similar to a video on YouTube of someone filiming two squirrels fighting over some seeds. The movement of the camera in the episode which seems to not be able to follow the two gerbils and the way Lemmiwinks jumps on Wikileaks is identical to the video.

Goofs

  • When the Sparrow Prince asks the Frog King whether he could kill his own brother he erroneously called him "Frog Prince".
  • Wikileaks posts "Jen and Tammy: Help our Mom's are Vicious Drunks!" on Eavesdropper, however, Emily is the true name of the girl, not Jen.
