Trivia

NoStream 201

The notice that appears when you try to watch "201" on the South Park Studios website (April 24, 2010).

  • As a result of the previous episode "200", Trey Parker and Matt Stone were threatened by a radical Islamic website for including an image of Muhammad in disguise. It wasn't actually Muhammad in disguise; it was Santa Claus.[1]
  • In a statement from Trey Parker and Matt Stone,[2] the speech that Kyle gave was about fear and intimidation and had nothing to do with Muhammad. Despite that, all the bleeps were added by Comedy Central due to the threat against Trey and Matt.
  • When trying to get into Dr. Mephesto's lab, Cartman's hand, Mitch Conner wears black-face, which is a racist parody of African-American performers.
  • The word 'Muhammad' is censored in this episode by Comedy Central (Not South Park Studios), due to the previous threats from Revolutionmuslim.com.
  • Before Dr. Mephesto explains who Cartman's father is, Stan, Kyle, and Kenny burst into the lab with Muhammad and claim that cloning Muhammad is more important, claiming that no one cares who Cartman's father is, poking fun at the audience and leaving them hanging on in suspense of finding out who Cartman's father is.

    201 42

South Park recreation of Batman: The Killing Joke.

  • Scott Tenorman's father, Jack Tenorman, is revealed to be Eric Cartman's father.
    • Curiously, in the episode "City on the Edge of Forever", a flashback occurs, where Cartman's father is revealed to be John Elway. Though this was wrong, he was still a Denver Bronco, just like Jack Tenorman.
  • This episode is the first time where Kevin Mephesto speaks (despite being only a shriek).
  • Scott Tenorman's behavior throughout the episode is similar to that of the Joker from the Batman Comics. Furthermore, his introduction into this episode at the Chili Con-Carnival and the rollercoaster scene are made to look like an iconic sequence from the Batman: The Killing Joke.
  • Because of the threats, the episode did not re-air during the 12AM EST slot nor during the 10:30PM EST slot the day after the first airing, it was replaced by "The Tale of Scrotie McBoogerballs" and "You Have 0 Friends".
  • Many old supporting characters who have since stopped appearing returned in this episode such as Pip Pirrup, Mr. Hankey, Dr. Mephesto, and Kevin Mephesto.
  • Several prominent locations from past episodes are visually destroyed, like Country Kitchen Buffet, Casa Bonita, and Raisins.
  • The conversation Mitch and Dr. Mephesto have is a parody of A Clockwork Orange, when Alex tries to get into an old lady's house to rob her, and she tells him that she doesn't let strangers in after dark, and that there is a telephone in the pub down the road.
    Nostream SBF

The Notice given when trying to watch Super Best Friends on SouthParkStudios.com

  • After this episode was first aired, "Super Best Friends" and "200" were removed from the iTunes Store for purchase.
  • "Super Best Friends" was also removed from the South Park Studios after "201" aired with a notice saying that they were unable to stream it (see image). This would've been because of all the controversy that was caused by RevolutionMuslim.
  • Characters such as the Marshes and Guermoes most likely survived because they were on the roof of the community center with Mayor McDaniels and Jimbo who come out alive.
  • This episode was aired censored in Canada. Usually, episodes shown in Canada on The Comedy Network are uncensored.
  • This episode wasn't aired in the UK on the scheduled airdate/airtime on which the newest South Park episodes are shown and was instead replaced by a re-run of "Sexual Healing". Along with "200", it is also completely absent on the UK DVD/Blu-ray release of Season 14.
  • In The Simpsons episode The Squirt and the Whale the chalkboard gag Bart writes is "South Park, We'd Stand Beside If We Weren't So Scared" because of the death threats Trey Parker and Matt Stone received.
  • This episode marks the final appearance of Pip Pirrup, when Mecha Streisand stepped on him, killing him.
  • In the DVD release of South Park Season 14, the episode 201 is censored and appears as on screen when released, including the conclusive speech between Jesus, Kyle, and Santa. Commentary from Trey Parker and Matt Stone is also heavily censored, partly stating that they are still not allowed to talk about the episode and controversy in detail.
    • The Speech talked about Greeting Violence.
  • In a deleted scene on the Season 14 DVD/Blu-ray, Cartman is having a tea-party with all his stuffed animals, discussing what he should do about the people who lied to him.
    • This scene was later used in the Season 15 episode 1%, though it was adapted for that episode's story.
  • According to the tenets of Islam, no one is allowed to create art depicting animals or people, including their prophet, for fear it would lead to idol worship.
  • Both this episode and "200" were not published on South Park Studios, but were still listed.
  • Mayor McDaniels says to the people of South Park, "Alright people. Let's start rebuilding our town... For the thirty-ninth time", mentioning all the other times South Park has been destroyed.
  • Chief Runningwater makes an appearance at The Chili Con Carnival, present when Cartman finds out who his real father is.
  • The uncensored version of the speeches made by Kyle, Jesus and Santa turned up on Reddit on January 31, 2014.[3]
  • Despite the fact that is the ex-dictator of Iraq, and thus a celebrity, Saddam Hussein doesn't appear in this episode and "200".
  • This episode was not shown in Spain.
