"Trapped in the Closet"は、シーズン9のエピソード"Trapped in the Closet"に登場した楽曲である。なおこの曲はR・ケリー制作のミュージカル映画Trapped in the Closetが元となっている。

背景

L・ロン・ハバードの生まれ変わりとされたスタン・マーシュに会いたいあまり、トム・クルーズはスタンの寝室に侵入して待ち伏せをしていた。そして自身がいかにハバードを親愛しているかを訴えたが、スタンは俳優としての実力とともにトムの気持ちを真っ向から否定した。
　大いにショックを受けたトムは、その場にあったクローゼットへと閉じこもって出てこなくなるが、この「クローゼット」という言葉は同時に「性的指向を公言していない同性愛者」をも意味する俗語でもあった。

その後、元妻であるニコール・キッドマンを含め数々の芸能人が登場してトムにクローゼットから出るように（※ゲイであると公言するように）圧力を掛けたが、トムは屈しなかった。それどころか、同じくサイエントロジー教会の信者であったジョン・トラボルタと歌手のR・ケリーはトムとともにクローゼット内に閉じこもった。

R・ケリー： But everyone wants you out the closet.
トム・クルーズとジョン・トラボルタ: That doesn't matter 'cause we're gonna stay.
R・ケリー： Now I'm startin' to get angry, so I pull out my gun!

トリビア

• トム・クルーズが「クローゼットに閉じこもる」という脚本は、R・ケリーが制作した連続ミュージカル映画Trapped in the Closetとの類似点が多くある。
• R・ケリーがエピソード中でたびたび銃を取り出して町民をおびやかす場面が描かれたが、これも上記映画のパロディであり、同時に彼のミュージカル映画を見た観客へのファンサービスでもあった。
