I would go with a middle ground. if they started overusing canada and canadians, you wouldn't say candada has to be desroyed now and all the canadians have to move south. if anything that would just make the problem worse. the solution would be to just not use canada or canadians so much in the plot. that's how i would do it here. fade tegridy into the background and keep it open as a possible setting for when there's big drug news stories, or when they want to do a plot about the rural lifestyle and isolation.
