Here’s my favorite love song. It’s called “The Saltwater Room”, by Owl City. I admit that it is rather old, as it was produced by Adam Young back in the late 2000s. It still never fails to bring back some sweet, nostalgic memories from my adolescence. It has a dreamy, ethereal vibe to it and makes me envision a scenario of two "geeks" in love.
Although this isn't necessarily a "love song", the lyrics to "Sick of Losing Soulmates" by Dodie always remind me of the timeless friendship between my two OC Characters, Mia Carmichael and Hannah Quigley. As the song implies, Hannah found Mia at a time when she was "sitting alone in the dark" and changed her not only through her smile, but by loving her without condition. Mia also taught Hannah that quality is better than quantity and that sometimes, a single true friend with whom you can be your authentic self is all you need to find. As I always say, not all soulmates are lovers.
I also love listening to "Space Song" by Beach House. When I listen to the lyrics, I always imagine two young lovers drifting along outer space together towards the moon, isolating themselves in a secluded place where no action of theirs could be interrupted and they would be left to simply be.
As for my favorite Valentine's Day song by Chef, I would say neither. I thought Chef was a great character and all, but was never a big fan of his romantic singing montages. I just wish the South Park creators would leave shipping and romantic undertones out of their show, but this obviously isn't going to happen.
I love all of Chef's songs, and "No Substitute" is another great song sung by Chef. I miss Chef, he was always so funny.
"No Substitute" was so good, an excellent Chef song.
I enjoy all the love songs Isaac Hayes contributed to South Park (Love Gravy in particular) but let’s be honest. His best ones were never part of the show. Take this one for example (my favorite Hayes song)
Close to You
Why do birds suddenly appear
Every time you are near?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.
Why do stars fall down from the sky
Every time you walk by?
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.
On the day that you were born
And the angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dust
In your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue.
That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.
On the day that you were born
And the angels got together
And decided to create a dream come true
So they sprinkled moon dustIn your hair of gold
And starlight in your eyes of blue.
That is why all the girls in town
Follow you all around
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you.
Just like me, they long to be
Close to you
What do you think?
