Hey guys!
I was thinking about Season 2 today and I realized how it's usually stacked against the other seasons as one of the worst. I think there are definitely highs and lows of Season 2, and it being the longest season might have something to do with that.
I think Season 2, while not the best, is a very important season for South Park as a whole. Season 2 builds on the foundation of the classic characters from the first Season while keeping their old traits in mind. My favorite example of this is "The Mexican Staring Frog of Southern Sri Lanka". Everyone knows who Jimbo and Ned are if they saw Season 1, and this episode takes everything we know about them and establishes them as major side characters (for the time). We learn that Jimbo and Ned met in Vietnam and about their recently created hunting show. Another great example of this is Chef and "Chef Aid".
I miss how these "classic characters" have been given almost whole seasons to shine, especially now since most of them are either dead or missing.
Oh yeah, and don't forget Classic "Bully" Cartman! Season 2 had some of his best moments.
Please, let me know what you think of this quickly-written statement!
EDIT: I totally forgot to mention, this season DESERVES a DVD commentary. I really want to know why Matt and Trey decided to do what they did with most of these episodes!
